Anyone know if there is a garage who has Cadillac BLS diagnosis software + TECH2 diagnostics equipment in Scotland?

I know that Baur & Millett have it and are the nearest dealers, but I don't want to be running to them all the time.

The fault I have is on the drivers side headlamp, the dipped headlamp wont raise and lower, but I can hear the motor running all the time.
It would appear that the motor is internal to the whole headlamp unit and can't be removed from said unit, it looks like
I may well have to replace the whole headlamp unit complete with projector lenses and holders, which quite frankly is
a sheer waist of components and money!

Baur & Millett suggested it might be a software reset, I don't think so as I can't imagine this car {BLS) to be that sophisticated.

I rekon the little screw motor cant find the stop position as it may have well popped out from the motor internally itself, I could fix
it if I could get it out.

Any suggestions re the above please, or has anyone else had such a problem?

Or anyone got this software for sale or loan of? I do have the TECH2 device, but don't have the software.

Thank you.

Doug.

Yes I know Billy who owns the business and he doesn't have it, spoke to him the other day at length.

I'm very annoyed at Cadillac, they should have at least one garage here in Scotland with the diagnostic tools, after all they did have dealers and sold the BLS and CTS from forecourts, to just leave without buy-or-leave is irresponsible! I will guess the reason why former dealers didn't keep up servicing is because of the way in which they were treated at the withdrawal of Cadillac etc from Scotland, apparently they told all staff connected to Corvette/Hummer/Cadillac down tool's and leave same day! A lot of good and trusted staff were paid off the dealers valued greatly, therefor dealers may well be pissed off at that, thus no further repairs.....

The diagnostics are the only thing that stop's these cars from being viable, I think I will contact Cadillac themselves and see if they might be good enough to honor there commitment here in Jockland, I have spoken to them directly before and they were very helpful re- my CTS.

So that might be an option?

Thanks for your suggestion it's much appreciated, and I will let you know how I do with Cadillac.

Cheers

Doug

I never followed it up but I was told Vauxhall dealers could do diagnostic checks on the Cadillacs and I am sure I read on here somewhere that SAAB could do it for the BLS.

Like I say I have never had a reason to follow these up but I was also relying on Billy if I had problems with the CTS. frown

No, SAAB and Vauxhall can't do any repairs diagnostically on the CTS or BLS, I thought that too, the only people who do this are Baur & Millett - Manchester and a couple of others unfortunately, and as you know it's a distance from up here, not convenient.

I would suggest you miss out Stratstone in Birmingham though, total crap!

Got to say that Baur & Millett are a great garage, very helpfull indeed, if I was around them I would put my car there no problem and may have to.
If you have problems with your CTS then give me a shout, I know quite a lot about the CTS and would help you as much as I could.

As I said earlier, I think I will see if I can get Cadillac to support us in Scotland in some way with diagnostics, It's only the software thats needed not the Tech2 device
we have that.

Cheers

For what it's worth your angered should not be pointed at Cadillac but rather at Stratstone/Pendragon themselves. All the dealerships were owned by pendragon an they closed them due to their loss-making and poor performance. A story was fed to employees that it was GM's decision to close the sites but that is a very partial truth. I appreciate we aren't very close but if we can be of assistance I am sure we will do our best.

Hi Ally,

give this guy a call,

Scott Seath. Seath & Weir, 116a Manse Road Newmains ML2 9BD call on; 01698 381740. (Not open Saturdays or Sundays)

Scott cracked the BLS codes and also sorted out my CTS, he is the best diagnostics guy I've come across.

All the big dealerships use him when they can't sort major problems.

Tell him Dougy sent you.

Best of luck!

Doug

Out of interest, Mitch (and I know this goes against your own interests) but, from time to time, the new CTS pops up on Auotrader for around the £10k mark and I am being sorely tempted by one in London (a 58 3.6 Sport). Are these cars reliable or do they need specialist maintenance?
I have experience of Vettes, Camaros and my current Mustang but the CTS is, I believe, a direct injection multi-cammed can of worms, potentially.
Being in South Wales, jaunts to Manchester are not really what the doctor ordered if it's going to have any hissy fits.

As to the original OP, I had a Vette C4 and the headlight motor gears were nylon and frequently stripped teeth. I imagine it might be a similar issue. You could sometimes rotate the cog slightly to get it to use the good part. Like I say, I have no idea if there is any similarity or the part involved so it's a complete guess.
www.rockauto.com might be worth a browse for pattern parts if all else fails (assuming they ever sold the BLS in the US?)
