They definitely are not the worst car ever made, if you like the styling go for it. Still can't make my mind up about the bonnet but that a good thing. It's a car that generates opinion where the Merc doesn't. I have a 300c and I like the different styling a Chrysler offers, interesting comments on the youtube clips from yanks saying how Merc nuked Chrysler. I deal with corrosion in vehicles and it makes me laugh when Merc blaim Chryslers paint proceedures for there disastrous corrosion record since 99'ish but the Chryslers made at the same factory don't rust... amazing If you like the Crossfre buy one....you can always say it's the wifes

If there are genuine reasons, I am all ears. How tall are you? I'm 6ft... and first time I sat in a coupe, I touched the roof with my head, after positioning the seat correct for me. Big no... Other than that, it is based on a first gen SLK, engine if I'm correct is the one from teh SLK 350. Don't think engine wise you'll have lots of trouble... And from what I've read on some American car forums, the "SRT" version is quite fast. So in the end, if you like it, and you fit in it... why not?

I am 5ft 8 & have come from owning 2 elises & a Z3M, so no issues with space I don't think. The SRT is insane but very expensive in terms of maintanance & running costs etc.

I had several of them as demo cars.
As mentioned space inside is tight and, like already stated, I had problems getting comfortable due to my head touching the roof.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the manual. It's a bit of a clunky change, your elbow will hit the centre console when selecting 2nd or 4th and the car's not really sporty enough to make it essential.
Generally they're a good fun little car. Even moreso now that prices are so low.

Don't know for sure. But suspect there is a way to manually raise it.

This is from memory so baer with me. It's basically a Merc SLK of the old generation underneath which themselves never garnered much praise in road tests. Crossfire specific, tests reported thet the auto had an annoying habit of hunting up and down the gears - not surprising since Yank cars tend to gear everything absurdly high for economy.
The SRT6 got far better and more postive, almost good reviews in the US but they are rare here. Depending on the money involved, a Mustang or Camaro might be a better bet but are LHD.

We had a look at them a while back as the Missus liked them, I thought they were OK-ish to drive but didn't get on with the silver interior. I just got an impression that they wouldn't be reliable, wasn't based upon anything specific just a vibe from how it felt screwed together.
They seem to have almost disappeared from the roads too, used to be all over so I guess I was right.
Ended up buying a 320 CLK instead which although far too soft, isn't a bad car.

Not sure that's a very scientific or accurate way of measuring it. I mean for starters lets try reality shall we, in the fact that the oldest examples are only 9, yes NINE years old. Not 39 years old. So the only ones that will have disappeared are ones that have been written off or exported. There also seems to be a healthy selection for sale, despite only modest numbers imported to the UK. For a more numeric approach: http://howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=crossfireIt seems there are more Crossfires on the road in 2011 than 2010 and very stable numbers since production stopped in 2007.

AdeTuono said: I would take absolutely anything quoted on that site with a very large pinch of salt. Why? It's not as if they make the numbers up you know. They just pull them off a DB. And either way, even if they are slightly out, the trend would still be the same, as in almost no Crossfires have left the road or vanished since 2007.
