There's a couple in the PH classifieds that have needed clutches. Perhaps they'd been abused or ridden. Interesting reading on US sites about development of Turbo kits and Merc. V8 conversions.

I'm more partial to a Saturn Sky with a 7.0 LS7 fitted myself.

To those that want one...I say go for it. Having just sold mine purely to a move abroad for work in the near future, I miss it already and the drive to work is very dull in the temporary thing I'm using until I go.
Pros I found: Quick, comfy, plenty of creature comforts, great sound system, fairly sticky to the road and very forgiving in gear choice due to plenty of excess power Negatives: I didnt think there were many really, the boot is on display if you have expensive items in there without a cover and the huge bonnet picks up chips easily
I did notice as I got to the presale paranoia of "I hadnt noticed that bit before and it doesnt bother me....will it bother them?" that the body work seems to pick up rust fairly easily? Check the arches and on the boot lining. I found it strange for modern cars to be bubbling so soon when Im always polishing it etc - thats the Yanks department. All things Merc ran excellently.

[quote=carinaman]There's a couple in the PH classifieds that have needed clutches. Perhaps they'd been abused or ridden. Id say ridden, I caught my Missus barely using first gear, as it copes fine with second. Tut tut tut. She didnt use it much after that!

Hmmm, wonder where it was built - oh yes....Wilhelm Karmann GmbH – Contract assembly of the Chrysler Crossfire models (Osnabrück, Germany)

I often wonder how the Crossfire can be perceived as a 'Yank'. If it's because of the Mopar provenence, then surely a Focus could equally be called the same?

Oh right? I didn't realise it was built in Germany too. I noticed every pipe under the bonnet had a Mercedes logo, but didn't see anything else around the car.

I think a lot of 300s were built in Austria too.

I've never seen any rust on an Xfire... the build quality IMO is just brilliant and I've never seen such perfect shut lines; that's my OCD talking.

Well 3 months in and I love mine. I haven't even seen another Crossfire near me in the last couple of months and it gets lots of nice comments from strangers. I am finding it a very easy car to live with and have even got used to the restricted rear version. The most addictive thing is the noise it gives off when accelerating in second or third...
For four grand it was an absolute bargain!

boobles said: Was it any good? It was actually a bit pants. It was an early development car with a 6.1 in it and not enough had been done to the rest of the car to get it set up properly. Bloody quick in a straight line though.
