Some impressive work on here. Me? well I took the driver's door panel off my Mercury Grand Marquis and disconnected the door keypad that wasn't working properly anyway and now my mysterious battery drain has gone smile

Had a great run out today with some of the V8UK boys, a 1964 Ranchero with a 347 Stroker, a 2007 Ford Bullitt Mustang, A C6 Corvette, HSV Monaro, BMW M3 and my 1991 Camaro RS.

Ended up at a Classic Car meet in Brackley, spotted this gorgeous Cobra with a SBC in it...

Then after stopping there for a while, we all headed out for a nice drive around the countryside, mixing in some quite interesting A and B roads, before stopping for a quick photo op and then finding a pub for a late lunch.

The V8UK guys are a good laugh and have a load of events planned for next year, if you haven't happened to check out their facebook page, its worth it for finding stuff to do with some like minded V8 friends! www.facebook.com/VEightUK

After replacing the lower ball joints I took the Prowler over to Hangar 111 last week, my local Lotus & KTM specialist to have a 4 wheel alignment done on their state of the art rig. The machine showed it was slightly out and Greg did a great job of setting up all the suspension geometry, it really did feel more stable and steer more positive afterwards.

Really pleased the the work they did and they took a couple of nice photo's they put their website:

Replaced the door speakers on the Prowler two years ago when one failed, this time it was the front dash and rear panel speakers in need of some maintenance. Used JBL GX302 speakers as they seemed the best 3.5 alternative.

This is how bad they had become, one from the front and one from the rear as a comparison:

Bigger magnets gave more power:

Fronts fitted in the dash perfect:

As well as better sound, rears looked a lot nicer when fitted:

Mopar OEM "Air-Catcher" direct port intake. The screen is aftermarket from Genpartsco and should be OEM really.

Spent a long time working out how the suspension works in my viper, then took all the wheels off and slamed it down as low as I can get away with without ripping the front splitter off every time I go over a speed hump.

Changed all the locks on my 67 Camaro, now I can lock the doors and get in the boot properly, before I only had the key to the ignition and the boot was so worn pretty much any key would work.

It was not straightforward, turns out the door catch mechanism on the drivers side had a couple of broken springs and the lock system was seized up. That needed a bath in penetrating oil for the night and then a couple of new springs (from my stock. I keep things that are a known weak point on these cars) and then re-assembly.

I also changed the ignition switch at the same time, the car is now cranking better and its not needing the key wiggle to get it to start to turn over.

Tried to tax it, but with a mot done on its chassis number and a new V5 with its new registeration number, it's not been possible on line or by phone,
Trip to PO tomorrow I think smile

Got my plates made up in 12x6" now, the number is still on my clio but couldn't resist a little mock-up this afternoon when I rolled the beast out to do some work in the workshop. Will put the paperwork through in the new year, Camaro is entering winter hibernation now so no rush.

Any pics?

For me it was a clean pass today with no advisories on the mot, well happy with that as I haven't touched it mechanically for 3 months.

Even though I've been driving my Camaro all through winter when it's been dry, today I set about giving it its first proper clean and wax. Sadly the paint isn't doing so well, very typically peeling both lacquer and paint on the rear and nose cone.

Still took it out for a long drive, roof off. Met up with my mate who's just picked up his new XF...

Lovely Camaro smile
