So, I've found a couple of trucks with decent history and the sellers seems to be straight up. However, they're based in Eastern Europe so I would need to make a holiday road trip over there... :rv:.

But, before potentially wasting my time, can you chaps offer some advice on the steps and costs to import an F150 (circa 2006) into the UK on EU plates?

1. What's the best solution to adjust the headlights to dip down and left?
2. I believe all the trucks already have fog lights (just need moving to the right) and amber indicators. Anything else which may need adjusting and can I realistically do it all myself or is it not worth it? Amateur mechanic here so don't own any specialist tools.
3. Insurance under the VIN number, do most insurers/brokers allow this (e.g. Adrian Flux)? Do they charge a premium for this?
4. Is the next step an IVA test? Is this a £199 or £450 fee?
5. MOT or is the IVA sufficient for the first year? Another £30.
6. After the IVA is passed, do I fill in the necessary forms in the DVLA import pack? Another £55.
7. Road tax and we're done? What's the time scale for all of this?
8. In terms of duty, is there any to pay? I believe used vehicles from the continent are exempt?
9. VAT, I'm VAT registered so again, no VAT to pay, correct?

The headlights will only need dipping down slightly to get through an IVA test as they're flat beam.

What makes you think they'll already have foglights on them?

What makes you think they'll already have amber indicators?

Make sure you do a carfax report. A lot of Eastern European stuff is damaged repaired.

If you're VAT registered makes no difference if buying from a private individual in an EU country who has already paid their VAT and duty. Cam you read the paperwork to ensure this?

How do you go about dipping the headlights?

One of them already has a fog light, the other's do not. Again, some of them show amber indicators in the wing mirrors, but I'm unsure about the rear. I assumed that all of Europe requires amber indicators as I have not seen anything but, I guess this is incorrect?

So just to be clear about the VAT front, as a VAT registered entity, I would not have to pay the VAT in the country of purchase, neither would I have to pay VAT over here. But I would have to charge VAT (and pay it) should I ever decide to sell the truck again. Correct? Might need to ask HMRC this question smile.
