Ford F-150 Lightning.

Hi Peeps.

I'm looking into getting a V8 truck, I've been toying between the ford F-150 Lightning, and the dodge SRT10, but the lightning seems to pull me more. Ive looked but these seem to be like gold dust. Theres one currently on Ebay but its got a massive wing stuck to it which is not to my fancy.

Wheres best to be looking for one? Im new to american import trucks/cars.

I looked at both the F150 lightning and the SRT-10 Rams both RC and Quad..

Driven both and I ended up in the SRT-10.. Maybe a little biased to the Dodge but

The 6 speed manual and rack and pinion steering did it for me and the mighty v10...

Not wanting to put you off by any means but I spent a good couple years waiting for an f150 to pop up which fitted the spec I was after and a price I was willing to pay. I found that there would be nothing for weeks/months on end then all of a sudden a couple would come up. If I was buying again, I would definitely import directly from the States. There's obviously far more choice at any one time and you do get a little more for your money. Obviously there is a fair amount of hassle and delay, but surely worth it.

You could always approach one of the UK importers/dealers who will find exactly what you're after at a slight premium.

I'd go for a ram srt10 and also consider a silverado ss awd, tacoma x runner.

Probably wants to go fast so I'd discount all of them

I'm a big fan of the dodge ram but a new one is iro £40k from the usual importers here. I'm sure I read somewhere that by the time you imported it yourself, paid taxes and made it legal for UK roads, you wouldn't be that far off the prices you would pay for one here. Not sure how true this is.
