Lets see your Yank tanks!

I think that this is the problem with the QJET. Most of them are just worn out and poorly rebuilt. The one I bought was a knock off, likely from the far east. It was a great looking car and looked well made but just didn't function right. Every time I've bought an Edelbrock, it just worked.
Not my first classic car, but my first classic American. Loving every minute - not fast but super smooth and comfortable. Structurally and mechanically excellent - dry state import hence baked roof, seats, dash pad etc, but only superficial surface rust. A great rolling project and room for all the family

Gotta be a great alternative to a MPV or SUV for those with larger families!aeropilot said:

depends on the engine I guess but you wouldn't want anything but the 425 would you?
Can't imagine how miserable it would be with the Olds diesel.
The anemic 425 is just a method of converting dead dinasours into glacial momentum Can't imagine how miserable it would be with the Olds diesel.

I'm a weirdo who loves malaise era styling.
The 80's G body cars are probably my favourite American cars.
I'm with you there. I do love the 50s for that ridiculously OTT style, but the utilitarian boxy shapes of the late 70s into the 80s just resonate with me. Probably because I'm a child of the 80s. Lot more practical to live with too. I can park my El Camino pretty much anywhere and it'll fit. The 80's G body cars are probably my favourite American cars.

A land yacht - excellent stuff! How does it compare to your non-Yank classics?
Compared to our early 70s Alfa for example, very spacious, quiet and comfortable, but not a fraction of the performance - 120bhp propelling 1100kg vs 140 propelling 1850kg tells its own story - but hey, that’s not what a 70s Cadillac is about Gassing Station | Yank Motors | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
