Thanks guys - its really nice to drive - does 17 on a run and even handles reasonably well too. The engine and transmission were rebuilt 19 years ago and the bare metal respray has lasted with virtually no new corrosion since that time. Considering it was an Ohio car, it was in pretty good shape when I bought it (through an agent) I converted to front discs from a '68 Riv not long after getting it on the road because the fade with the original drums was frankly scary....they may look good and the rodder's love 'em but not on a car weighing 4400lbs...
I used to have this...
...It was one of four Firebirds I had, and I also had this...
Now that I want to get back into the nearside of a car to drive it again, it seems that all the companies my broker tried want proof that I've owned, (not necessarily driven!), an American car in the past three years!
So who do you guys use for insurance?

Peter James, I have a 69 MGB and a 55 Bel Air on a joint policy for £180 fully comp, before I got the Bel Air I was paying £88 for the MGB.Bel Air also has an agreed value of £25K. I live in London and the only stipulation is that they are garaged over night when at home. The policy also seems to drop by a couple of quid each year as well.

Thanks for that, I'll give them a call.Bel Air also has an agreed value of £25K. I live in London and the only stipulation is that they are garaged over night when at home. The policy also seems to drop by a couple of quid each year as well.
Not sure it'll work as what I have in mind to buy won't fit in my garage, (as it's full of my Son's rusty Fiat Panda), but it's anything but a garage Queen. It'll be kept well off the road in my driveway though.
Actually, it wouldn't fit in my garage without the Panda in there. :-/
I think I'll try Flux first and see what they come up with.

The Bel Air wouldn't fit in my garage but after a months worth of modifying, extending and putting the race car in my shed it all fitted in I think I'll try Flux first and see what they come up with.

There's a very sharp turn to get into it and besides, my Son's Panda is currently in residence.
