Ah, fk it.

There's now a very nice 06/07 Laramie on ebay for a much lower price, again with prins lpg and still "only" 80k miles (so nothing for a yank truck). Compared with the hassle of finding, importing and converting my own 09+ truck, maybe I could live with the tacky plastic for a year or two whilst waiting for another uk based new shape truck to come up.

Anyone know if the difference of 350/400bhp pre/post facelift is a simple remap, or it is an engine hardware update? I gather they both have the cylinder deactivation tech as standard.

I've just driven a 2013 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn from London to Marbella via Portugal. An absolute pleasure to drive, no problems at all and tons of space.

I've never been a RR owner, but I would strongly recommend the Ram.

What was it like interns of size? Did it look or feel much/any larger than a modern Chelsea tank?

In terms of size on the road it makes no difference to me. It is a lot wider and longer than my wifes Grand Cherokee but nothing dramatic, everyone is different however so the best way would be to go test one out.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I ended up having a quite large argument with the parents who told me I was being utterly stupid wanting something that long and tall (the bit about it being 2" wider than an RR seemingly not registering with them), and that I could find somewhere else to park it if I went and got one.

Sadly (he says, in a relative fashion), I have instead pulled the trigger tonight on a very nice 4.4 V8 L322 after noticing they were half the price year for year of a TDV8 and cost less per mile to run on gas....

Much bigger than a RR!

I had the pleasure of car sitting a colleagues 2006 5.7hemi for 10 months while he was stateside - RR Sport owner myself and regular FFRR user at work.

The Ram is huge, bloody good fun to drive though.
Parking is a bind, the smaller older multistory car parks can be a no go area, I got the Ram into the Multistory at Gatwick - getting it back out without scraping it was a challenge headache and parking at the Supermarket was interesting - it didn't fit between the white lines and was longer than a standard space.

Yes, although I live away during term time but the cars stay at home. Why?

Enviable position being able to consider spending £20k on a car as a student and actual buying a v8 diesel ffrr. Well done.

I see your point and have no doubt I do appreciate my position. However, that 4.4 petrol RR cost the princely sum of £9k in the end - not bad for something with a £70k price tag when new this time 10 years ago! Plus, I should get £3.5k back from my D2 when that goes

Still, most students come out with £10,000s of debt, to be able to spend the thick end of £10k on a car as a student, especially having incurred cost in your first aborted attempt at a degree is good going.

If I was that age with that money to spend on a car a Range Rover would be well down the list.

Hell, a Ram wouldn't be particularly high.

World would be a boring place if we all liked the same things. I had a 4.0 Cherokee when I was a 22yr old so I can relate to him wanting an RR.

I'd rather a Range really, but it was all I could afford back then!

I'd buy a good nick XJ Orvis straight away if one came up for sale.

Lovely things.

Yes when most of my mates were lusting over an escort rs or a manta GTE I was loving my Datsun pick up then it was a Chevy blazer with a small block and dual exhausts a v8 before 20!!
Good to see a young un wanting something different to a corsa or punto

I looked at one 3 years ago before buying my Discovery. It looked nice, was well-appointed and drove well but compared to the Disco it was absolutely tiny inside!
