Hi Guys, Im new to the forum and Im looking for some information on importing my 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 into the UK. Ive already found a pretty decent quote for shipping at $1700 US and I believe I can clear customs myself (otherwise Ive had a quote for £600), but Im wondering about the IVA Test. I think it has Low Beam HID HeadLamps but im not sure if these will pass or fail the test? Ill also need side repeaters fitting. The Brake lights I believe I can simply change the bulb to Amber and it already has fog lights. Can anyone help?? Cheers.

It might not be quite as easy as you think with the electrics as it will have canbus. Try Pete Jordan http://www.jrjcustom.com/content/services he's the best that I know of for that sort of thing

Best people to try are Ship My Car, they will do everything for you to the point of you turning up and driving away in it. They're based in Milton Keynes, but from looking at their website and facebook, their work is top notch!

Thanks ShovelheadRob! :-) Ive been intouch with a company called Sea Kargo Bookings and they provide a full service including the necessary modifications to make it UK road legal. This was their response...

Hi Julian,

Please see below info from warehouse team on IVA:

Many thanks for your email, and I will be glad to advise further on the procedure to gain an IVA pass certificate.
Starting the front of the vehicle: The bumper and headlamps are removed, the xenon bulbs and electronic activators are removed and a halogen conversion installed in place of the xenon, suitably wired to operate through the headlamp switch.

Post IVA test the factory original xenon’s will be re-installed as per original so a reverse procedure to the above. Reason for temporary conversion to halogen, UK homologation will not allow xenon headlamps without a wash system, E11 etched on glass and switch on rear axle to self-level headlamps.

The rear fog lamp system is fed from the headlamp switch through a relay through the car’s interior, through the trunk area and into our electronic body module controls we install in the truck. These modules control the rear lamps to configure to UK spec. In most instances with Chargers, post-test we will install the fog lamp system into the third brake light so when the fog is activated and sensed from the fronts, it will automatically switch from third brake light, to rear fog and vice versa. The rear turn signals will emit an amber signal through the original red lens, bright and crisp.

The side repeaters, we have numerous options we keep in stock, normally we will add a side repeater which are in keeping with the side fender badge, if no badge is fitted we can ‘hide’ the side repeaters in the forward edge of the front fenders, re: Porsche 911 etc, we will use 5mm smoked pre-wired LED’s which are virtually invisible to the naked eye until in operation.

Finally, and most importantly your vehicle will come back to you in completely factory original specification, no noticeable changes to the aesthetics are visible, everything is integral.....

And although there is no mention of the Canbus.. it comes in at a hefty £885 just for the mods!

I just wonder why Ford couldn't do this with the Euro version of the new Mustang.
