Has anyone fitted just the resonator delete H or X pipe and kept the original back boxes?
If so does it make any difference to the exhaust sound does it sound more like a V8?
Thanks

I didn't change the centre section, but did fit a roush axle back and it sounds superb......

The fitter suggested the main silencing is being done in the back boxes whilst the middle resonator impact would be less marked.

A couple of the videos on CJ Pony Parts might help although they are not a direct comparison. Conclusion seems to be that both make it louder (natch), H pipe is deeper, X pipe is raspier. It already sounds like a V8 though; because it's a V8.

I know it sounds like a V8 because it is a V8 but a modern V8 my TVR Griff sounded more old school V8 that's what I was implying and the sort of sound I would like.

Put a roush axle back on it, it will then sound tremendous.

Can be imported and fitted for £650.

Answered my own question found your post about Roush Axle back you got it from American Muscle
But you mention Flowmasters but they only seem to offer American Thunder did you find they supplied Roush.

I bought from American Muscle at circa $550. By the time this was in the UK with VAT / Duty etc it was £600.

Local mechanic fitted them for £50. He observed the factory exhaust has high stainless content based on magnetic tests and how difficult to cut. He suggested the resonator was worth leaving in.

Cannot tell you how good the roush axle back exhaust sounds, deep and rich burble at idle, quiet on the motorway, boot it and they properly howl. As a former Cerb / Griff owner and having run various Monaro's with full Wortec exhausts I was a bit nervous that an axle back wouldn't be enough of a change over the standard exhaust - but its properly good.

Why are the Roush so much cheaper than the Borla? I bought the S black tips was way more money, did not like the Roush sound, are the Borla's that much better?
