2016 Camaro Prices now on Chevrolet UK website
Discussion
Have been looking at changing my Gen 5 2SS Camaro for a new car, either S550 Mustang or Gen 6 Camaro. Nearly 3K Mustangs registered in the UK this year, GM only bringing a handful of Camaros. Need to remember that Camaro will still be LHD, not RHD like the Mustang. I really like the look of the 50year Anniversary model.

Mustangs will be everywhere in the next couple of years. Many of them with the ecoboost engine. I would rather sit on the wrong side of the car personally Not so sure they will be everywhere. I've had mine 8 months and have only seen maybe 5 others and I do a lot of miles in the V8 and my other car. (Bar meets of course)
There is still a long waiting time from ordering and in essence it appears to be like having an unofficial import as parts don't seem to be stocked by your local Ford dealer.
Admittedly in that same time I have only seen one Camaro
The first batch seemed to have been taken up by people like me who are Mustang fans, have owned previous US cars and can tell a Fox body from a S197. Personally I would love an old 60s Coupe but I need a car that can be used daily. I did have my eye on a 2011 S197 a couple of years ago but the insurance was eye watering. Weirdly the insurance on my S550 is peanuts and that's with business use as well.
I think the sales will now fall and Ford may even junk the idea of selling the latest RHD model in the UK. Won't be long before the V8 will only be seen in specialist models and I am so glad that I got one before they disappear for ever.
I had no interest in any of the current cars of any make available in the UK around the £30k mark, and was not in the market for another car, especially a brand new one until I saw the price list of the Ford when first released.
I put my deposit down the next day.

I'm a little worried about after sales too for when/if i get the car. the only authorised dealer is in virgina waters but its still going to be an import. I'm test driving the 2ss tomorrow so will be asking all these questions. With the mustang you get normal warranty through ford as its r/h drive and not an import.
Just to clarify, the Ian Allan cars are NOT imports regardless on where the steering wheel is. They are official UK cars.essexstu said:
I love the new Camaro, its a shame Chevrolet not bringing the ZL1 to the Uk though.
How straightforward is it to import one of these? I can do the paperwork sure but what about the conversion works and the IVA? Is there a specialist in the UK that will sort it?

Don't buy a Euro/UK version IMO. It'll have unique bits on it not found on US models. Which GM will stop making. Thus rendering it near impossible to replace later in the vehicles life.
The Dealers are also hugely unlikely to know much about the vehicles either. Because even if they paid GM the extra to sell/deal the Vette/Camaro. 99.99% of that they work on won't be this type of vehicle anyway.
