Hi all!

After mainly driving British steel, I'm close to purchasing my first yank tank (Galaxie 500), very excited!

Currently the car is US Title and Nova declared, and according to the dealer it just needs an MOT to complete registration. Given that I live in central London, I'd prefer the dealer to deliver the car in a ready-to-drive-it-home condition (i.e on UK plates), rather than me trailering it around.

Did any of you ever run through the registration process (with a dealer or by yourselves), and would you have an estimate of time/effort involved? Just want to prevent the dealer charging me a lot of money for what perhaps is a relatively simple and quick service.

Thanks, Adriaan

I have just gone through the process with my 09 Camaro. The dealer put in a lot of work prior to the DVLA paperwork. Not sure on the specifics relating to your Galaxy (age etc.) but as a single car import my car went through electrics conversion to comply with UK legislation, then the SVA test and then DVLA. Quite a bit of effort and expense.

Thanks, that's helpful feedback. I think in my case, the car should be MOT'ed anyways (so I think conversion of lights etc should be included in price) - it's just the latter bit (SVA test + DVLA registration). Do you have an indication of how much work/effort that was? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the offer Zubair but the dealer should sort it out in this instance - just getting a sense of the potential costs of it!

I have no idea, the dealer did it all. We had agreed a price I would pay for the car fully registered.
