I'm hunting round for a Chevy V8 for a project and wondered if anybody could recommend the best way to source. Any good Uk suppliers or builders that you would recommend? Is it worth sourcing from USA or Australia? A turn key engine is appealing as it saves me messing with after market management. Looking for LS engine preferably @400bhp. Any advice is much appreciated.

A friend knows of a good supplier of LS engines, ex. Monaros, have you a box, if not manual or auto ?

For crate engines - LSX454 is an incredible engine

If you want an built from a donor core try John Sleath Racing - pretty good at matching engine spec's with applications. Did the 570 bhp 489 cu in for my Vette.

Monaro VXR spec would be perfect, but moderately lower or higher spec would be ok too. I don't need a gearbox, UN1 transaxle being used 🙂

The LS engine is a great way to go,see if you can find a hole car to break up its the cheapest way to go as you get all the parts which other wise will cost a lot.The LS 2 which is the 6.0 Ltre has problems so steer clear of it go for the LS1-LS3.........

There's a chap call Gary who breaks Monaros and VXR8's - best to call him, as he only ever lists generic adverts for parts:
