Just exploring round the other sections of Pistonheads - Been on the forum, but pretty much exclusively in the "HSV and Monaro" section since 2006, which has always been a gathering place for those owners.

Now that the Monaro has a new stablemate in the form of a Challenger Jailbreak, I am looking, and struggling to find out where UK Challenger owners hang out on here, as there seems to be a place for every marque other than Dodge / Challengers? Appreciate this is a general US motors section, but just wondering if there is somewhere that Challenger owners congregate to talk Challengers?

Cheers

Hi Windy

I don’t think there is anywhere on PH. I’m an ex Mustang owner and a Challenger owner now so I float between MOCGB, Rick Ster’s UK Mopars Facebook page and here. Most local shows I attend I am the sole Challenger though that said, some friends and I organised our own US car show last weekend and six new style Challengers turned up plus a great selection of 70s Mopar so it is out there!

Hi both,

Thanks for the feedback. I am in Orkney in the North of Scotland, but regularly get down to at least the middle of Scotland, if not further. Car came from Oxford so was down picking that up in May and got a good run up here over 2 days. Only seen one other Challenger in Scotland lately and that was out on Skye a couple of weeks ago - A white one with 2 red stripes up and over the bonnet and roof. No chance to see any more as we were doing 60 in opposite directions.... Did see a Charger near Glasgow on my run up in May, spoke to the owner and he says there is quite a few Chargers and Challengers in Scotland. Just a case of finding where they are, and then, on here, finding where everyone else is!

Cheers

There are a couple of Challenger specific facebook groups but not a huge presence on here. I also had a Monaro which made way for the Dodge!

sadly the Challenger is very much the rarity over here - there are 2 Challenger FB specific groups and the Mopar Muscle Assoc but as for us on here on here I think we're S.O.O.L.

Pic of mine...

Cheers guys,

Here's a pic of the JB;

Must work at getting both the Jailbreak and the Monaro clean at the same time and sitting side by side for a group photo!

Cheers

Is a Challenger the meanest looking car in a rear view mirror? I vote yes.

also we have done recently thank god, some local car events, lovely when a mix of all cars, what you had as a teenager, what your parents drove, and the challenger really stood out as well. just lovely to be out and about again

Yup, been to a few shows here in Scotland over teh summer with the Challenger and had some great fun. The Buckie Classic Car Show the other weekend was a real hoot, with some great American cars, including the class winner, a fresh out of the paintshop after a bare metal respray '69 Charger.

Heading down to Inverness today and going to be at the meet up at Rollerbowl tomorrow morning.

Do you normally run it with no front plate? That's not a snarky question, I have a genuine reason. Good mate of mine has a Hellcat which I'm a named driver on the insurance and can use pretty much whenever I want, but he doesn't run a front plate and when I'm in it I'm always a bit conscious of getting pulled for it. I think it's £100 no points at present? There is a front plate in the boot which I sometimes put on the dash but I don't suppose that carries much weight if Mr Plod is having a bad day.

No! I was playing a bit of jiggery pokery when I posted that pic. At the time that pic was taken, it had a show plate on, and it was taken at a dealer event in England. At the time I was posting the pic, I was in the process of acquiring the same number the show plate had, but it was still not in my ownership. So I airbrushed it out of the picture before posting in case I tempted fate and didn't get it! biglaugh

But it now officially has the number and its on a removable "Sto'n'Sho" bracket that pops on and off in seconds. Comes off for shows, goes on for the road.

I think I would be the same - Running with no plate is only likely tempting trouble. frown

funnily enough a friend of mine who owns a very nice C5 Vette got stopped today for no front plate and got done for it. Not sure what the fine is but I guess they are going to be hot on all this stuff for the ULEZ cameras

Following up on this old posting, a pic of the Challenger with its number plate on;

And its predecessor beside it.

The Challenger normally runs with the splitter cover off, but shortly after this pic was taken it was to be trailered off to the dealer for 5 weeks for them to not fix the active exhaust valve issue - irked - So the cover was put back on in case the splitter got it going on or off the trailer.

The removable "Sto'n'Sho" bracket sounds like a clever idea for switching between show plates and regular plates. Here are the discounts https://promocodius.co.uk/ .It's certainly more convenient than having to remove and reinstall the plate every time.

I had a remote controlled hideaway plate that looked good. I tore it off on a vmax day. Decided to fit a proper plate to the front bumper
