I have no experience of MCE.
I've been with Adrian Flux many times over many years and found them decent.
I recently added the ablility to drive my car between my companies locations - before it was only my normal place of work.
I was shocked at the charge required for this upgrade - £4.45. I can't remember the last time I thought insurance was bargain! There wasn't a handling charge!

MCE took 300 Pounds as CANCELLATION Charges.. Beware !!!

I took insurance policy from MCE on 15th november which was cancelled from MCE side without any notificaiton on 11th of Decemeber. Reason provided was that, I did not send the required documents. This is first part releated communication problem.
When I took policy I explained them that I don't have no-claim bonus at the moment and it will take some time to arrive from previous insurance company, also my counter part is in homeoffice for an application processing, as soon i will get the doucments i will forward them to MCE. Rest of the doucuments are ready to present. The guy I was speaking to on 15th of Nov, he agreed on this and told me to send whatever I have at the moment. So according to plan I sent all the doucments which I had at that time to MCE. Now I was waiting to receive other documents to foward mce.
BUT then 11th of Decemeber MCE insruance issued me a letter of policy cancellation because of missing documents?, that letter i received on 15th when I was leaving abroad, I was shocked to see because i did send the doucments according to discussion, so why MCE cancelled without asking me or consulting me, until that MCE took 347+115 = 426 pounds in one month and it was so easy for MCE for cancell without telling their client? and taking 426 pounds in one month. I was feeling no value of myself as customer of MCE. No curtusy at all frown.

Now I was busy abraod coz i was having my sister's weeding I had no time to get into this stuff, but I called on 11th of decemeber to MCE insurance and asked them to cancel my policy and refund my money after deducting one month policy chargers. Then I was shocked again when lady told me that out of 426 pounds I will get only 36 something pounds? refund of 36 pounds means 300 pounds as cancellation charges other than 115pounds which MCE took as one month insurance charges. I asked lady why you are taking 300 pounds towards cancellation charges, she said its our policy and that's how it works. I said if it is so pleases send me in writing in email or email me your 300 pounds cancallation charges as policy statement. She said she will but still so far i didn't hear anything in that regard but she cancelled my policy and took 300 pounds as cancallation charges.

lets move foward now.. i just came back yesterday to UK and today I called MCE insurance to look into matter. I spoke to Mr Richard and explained him everything. After counsluting to someone, he advised me to get a new policy and pay again from start ? and it might take two weeks to decide my charges. He said that MCE is unsure about Bank charges, so I told him that I have letter for RBS about their cancellation chargers and dues, if you need that I can send you.
Again he said I cannot do anything but only can do new policy for you in which I have to pay again in FULL as he has no access to adjust previous amount in new policy. Then I requested him to forward my call to some managerial level person who is authroized to help me. He put me on hold for 5mintus and then call was dropped from MCE. I called back, this time another person pick the phone i asked him to forward my call to Mr Richard, he said he is busy on phone give me two second and he will pass my call to Mr. Richard, after 30 seconds on hold he passed my call to Miss Angela, she told me that Mr.Richard is not even on desk? and he will call me back later. here the story ends at loosing 300 pounds as cancellation charges and I cannot drive my car now and cannot work as I have no insurance.

Thanks to Mr Steve Elliott, One of Sales team leader contacted me within 5 hours of sending Email to Mr steve, now I have to wait until monday for final say from MCE as I am stil wondering if MCE can charge me 300 Pounds as cancellation charges which seems so unjust to customers. Hoping for the best.. will update the output here for all new readers and information seekers.

I'm sure MCE have a large number of happy customers, but I don't think I've heard of another company that seems to pee off so many of them frown

Ironic that the company you choose don't have a call centre on the Indian Continent. wink I hope they resolve this for you because they are getting an increasingly bad name and certainly I find that one mistake is all it takes to alienate me from a useless insurance company.

My renewal is coming up with MCE, now witha few more mods to the car it's important it's right.. I'llpost how it goes,

After 4 days of calling here and there, trying one to another and using 0870 number for hours.. No result so far..

No one from MCE insurance told me that how did they divide 376 pounds on 26 days of my mini duration auto cancelled cover.
(426-36refunded-14refund rbs insurace)

MCE insurance cancelled my insurance policy without notification or cousulting me, MCE took deposit and first installment within 14 days and then forgot to care me as a customer?

without any answer to my questions, and without any clarification fromMCE, I am loosing 300 pounds..

whenever I call MCE my call goes to sales team, and not to customer service team, and sales team says Customerservice teamis very very busy... who they are busy with when i being a customer don't even has access to them?


If anyone knows who should i contact in MCE insurance, please let me know.

WHERE IS MCE CUSTOMER CARE?????????????

My renewal came thru from MCE, for a huge amount more than I expected.

So I called them to ask about a better deal, was told they'd try and they'd call me back asap... no call.

I phone around and get very reasonable quotes from other 'specialist' American/import/sports car brokers.

2 days later call MCE to ask about this 'better deal', was told " oh yes, ***** was dealing with that, he'll call you tommorrow.... no call.


Went with other broker for about 1/3 of my renewal quote for better cover... hey ho.. they won't get my business in a hurry..

I had insurance with mce never again will I use them swapped now and will stay with RH classic insurance for all 4 of my yanks. Much cheaper and helpful.

Wish I'd read about MCE - awful company - dirty tricks etc.

I had an MCE policy on one bike running for 3 months ( Annual premium £148 )

Then I bought another bike - MCE wanted £280 EXTRA (so total £428 to cover both)

I went elsewhere and got multibike cover (including both bikes - same cover) for

  • under £300*
But MCE have now charged £100+ to cancel the first policy - Disgraceful - be Warned

(Just to make sure they really rip you off good ..MCE also use an 0871 number on phone calls - Avoid by using the 'sayNoto0870' site for alternatives ;-)
