I'll vouch for Knight Racing Services, also: for a 351 Cleveland, someone who goes un-published is Ian Claridge of Anglian Engine Services - St Neots, Cambs.

He's had his hand in many successful Ford V8's. It's a little traditional engine shop, no fancy glass palace, but lots of knowledge within.

For heads - Ric Wood is damn good - CNCHeads.co.uk - he's also a V6/V8 race engine expert too. He's in Stockport, so not quite SE England. See him at Autosport though...

Jim,

I'm running the same engine as yourself in my DT.

I'm slowly putting together a new engine and imported all parts from US & Aus.

The block was cleaned, sonic checked and bored (with Cleveland torque plates), rotating assembly ballanced and fitted by Steve at vulcan Racing Engines in Hanwell, West London who has been building and machining Ford engines as long as anyone even if he has specialised in 4 pots.

I imported CHI 3V heads and matching dual plane intake from OZ but have sent them to the US for final porting work.

Have you been following Dan's work on the Cleveland dyno shootout:

http://pantera.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/56500...

They are using my heads on the first dyno runs.

I'd like to be making these numbers with my 408 when I've finished and had it dynoed, probably by Knights but my cam is nowhere near as wild as this one:

My aim is just to keep the local rice burners in check.

Good luck.

Phil

I've heard good things about Vulcan in Hanwell, been going for years. Their name cropped up when I was talking to a friend of a friend who used to to be a Nascar engine tuner and he knew them from the 60's/70's..

Hi Phil

Sorry, didn't see your post until today!

I'm still deliberating as to what to do, to be honest. I've got a company putting together some options for me, so I can see what may cost how much and produce what power. I, like you, want to give the Max Power brigade a run for their money! smile

Cheers
Jim

Hi Jim,

Further to my previous post Steve at Vulcan uses a dyno down near Brands Hatch which is where he is many a Saturday so he may be able to offer that service as well.

My bill for all the machining was £600 which late last year was very reasonable indeed.

Another possibility is a built & dynoed engine from one of the recognised Cleveland specialists in the US though one would have see who would be willing to crate and ship to the UK.

I don't think I'd ever import the parts and build again as it's taken way too long and I feel cost more than a tried and tested combo.

Over the past couple of years I've compiled a list of many of the US 351C specilist engine builders so drop me a pm if you're interested.

Try Ian Briggs at British American Engines in Kent.
I've driven their 7 litre Cobra Daytona which used a stroked Cleveland, very good motor, experienced engine builders.
