Hi guys
Just got an 03 lightning can spec speedo is in km.
There seem to be people who may be able to convert it to mph,but
maybe if i can get a mph one it could be less aggro.
Or if there is any euro guys that wanna do a swap im cool with that.
cheers Dave t

Can spec should have MPH on the inside with KPH on the outside... OK the odometer in kilometers is a pain but other than that no issues...

Your right mate, but it kinda goes 20 ,40,60,80.
On the way home after picking it up ,mrs was behind me and we hit a 50mph section for 13miles
on the m1.
on the speedo there are no marks at all bettween the numbers above,no prob just get the needle in the middle of 40 and 60 mph,ok wheres the mrs gone,to me i should have been doing 50,but later the mrs said i was up and down around 55,54.this was on an average speed section .
important marks on the speedo would be 30,50,and 70.exactly what i dont have.
Iknow i sound paranoid, being baned sucks, ask me how i knowbiggrin
Maybe i just need to get used to it,the other thing is the headsup display in my corvette
has made me lazy.
cheers Dave
ps i could just have the tomtom infront of me,but to keep installing and removing it(broken window nick thing)
would, and is, a pain in the arse

Learn to convert to KM's or use the rev counter.
Or stick a small thin marker line on the front at the important speeds.
A real pain to swap out, I did mine as it failed a real arse of a job.

Er, 1 km is 5/8 of a mile so 50mph is 80 kph funnily enough. biggrin

Swapping the cluster is, as said, a pain in the botty. If I drive car marked in Km, just divide by 8 and multiply by 5 to get mph. teacher

cheers for the input, men.

simpler option is to get a speedo mask. There's a guy in harrow, middlesex that can do it, need to do a search though as I cannot remember his number. The last one he did for me was on a W140 Merc with a 340kph speedo. Converted it to mph with kph on the inside and it looked 100% genuine merc.

a bit of a fiddle with the needles, but its in there with no major probs.
thing is there is no difference with km/mph clusters, just the face mask.
Just need to get the needle in exactly the right position.later Dave

Ok spent 20 mins going up and down a local road, stop remove needle,
reposition ,repeat again and yep close enough.I am talking about 1mm of movement of the needle did make aprox 4 to 5 miles an hour diff in speed. This was near and around the zero mark
Job done,if anyone needs anything to do with clusters, try these guys, seem like a great bunch.
US SPEEDO 810-244-0909 ask for Harry.
This is a stock oem mask i got from them
