Lot 259a 6239 Rolex Daytona- Hammered at £37k. But looks to have not sold.

Not a bad price! I thought these went for between £45-55K?

It's not marked as sold, so I assume it didn't make reserve. Which would probably make your estimate about right... wink

I was sat next to a couple of the big bidders, and had an itchy nose. I didn't dare move for fear of out bidding the buggers!
Did you buy anything at all?

Out bid on a few things. To be honest, I hadn't been in the saleroom in a couple of years and I just wanted to get a feel for it. It was a spur of the moment decision to attend, so I hadn't had a chance to view the items properly. Also, to see in person the prices that pieces I don't normally work with achieve. Next time I'll do it properly, view the goods, decide on the price and get going.
Sotheby's have a fine watch sale in Bond St next month, so hopefully i'll find something interesting.....

Lot 184. A Rolex 5513 Military issue Submariner. Watch has seen action by father and son in the British Army. Sold at £39,600.

I just thought it was quite sad that something with that much family history is being sold on, no matter what an earner it is!
My thoughts exactly. Can you imagine how gutted you'd be to let it out of the family. I suppose it is only a watch if you need more baisc things, like a house, but such a shame all the same.

Hi Figas, IIRC the Comex 16800 was not at auction. It must have been withdrawn.

Thank goodness for that then; I was beginning to think this recession was not for real and was just part of a larger conspiracy theory...coffee

Thanks mate.
Not as much as I expected - a new Patek 5170 chrono (non minute repeating) is £52,000 with none of the provenance of that one...

Some lovely stuff!
