Was sent the PP magazine this week and they had this little number in there....5208. Sublime, and a snip at $925,000 yikes

Back on topic. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but there is a great review of Breitlings new in house calibre 01 done for QP magazine on here:
http://www.calibre11.com/watchmaker-review-calibre...

Sounds like a great movement just a shame I am not a big fan of the direction they have taken with the rest of the chronomat. Transocean nice but to big.

From Wikipedia: Chintz is glazed calico cloth printed with flowers and other patterns in different colours. Unglazed calico is called "cretonne". The word Calico is derived from the name of the Indian city Calicut (Kozhikkode in native Malayalam) to which it had a manufacturing association.

A Breitling:

Don't see the similarities myself.

Why not be just a little different and buy an Ollech and Wajs AVIATION model. O & W used to make cases for Breitling before Schneider took over Breitling. When Breitling went bust , O & W carried on building what were effectively Breitling Navitimers (and some 24 hour Cosmonautes)...identical units to the pre-bankruptcy. Once Schneider realised this was happening he stopped them branding as Breitling and O&W then branded them as AVIATION. If you look around, you can still but one , perhaps even NOS . People think it's a Breitling but it's more important than a Breitling because it's the missing link from old to new. My 67 Cosmonaute has the old Venus movement and I have a 90's Callisto which carries the Lemania movement, the smallest automatic chronograph unit ever produced. Worth a look.

I did wonder, but 'chintzy' would only refer to a watch if it had some flowery curtains, shirley? hehe

Sorry, I used the wrong word chaps. I meant fiddly, I find that there is too much going on, rather than being simpler. I would take my SS Daytona any day over one.

Well I guess not having a date display does make it somewhat simpler.

Breitling made some of the best watches around for a while, but many of the new designs leave me a bit cold.

Now that is a stunning stunning watch. Really classy and sublime.

What sort of salary could you justify buying that on? Bob Diamond might be a little shocked

Have to say i always thought they were to big and bling, but the two shown here with the green and black bezels are really nice. By the way, you cant have a ' general' consensus only a consensus, as a consensus is general.

A consensus wasn't general enough for me, I wanted a wider scope. yes

Do people rate Patak as the best in the world?

Also with the Brietling I know a number who have them and was talking to an old school friend the other night just happened to mention watches and I said you know what I find very odd is everyone I know with the Brietling watch will always tell everyone what it is worth??? I mean why - and then he perked up stating that he had noticed exactly the same how very odd. Might just be an unusual minority however it's not something Id be shouting about.

A classy watch should be just that sublime and a nice addition to your wrist. Those who know will realise what it is others of they see the watch will probably think that's a nice looking watch. Why oh why would you need to brag about it?

Another friend I happen to know has a £20k Rolex. He never talks about it but wears it all the time that's class.

Interestingly, everyone seems to delight in telling me that mine has an ETA movement.
