See if he'll stretch to double the money. The guy that's PM'ing me? I think a premium could be charged, if I was selling

The locals over at TZ will flay you alive for daring to make a penny more than you paid for it. Thanks to Eddie for the opportunity!

The non-profit "rule" seems to depend on how regularly you post don't you think? Anyone remember the Striking 10th that was purchased for £3.5K from an AD and then sold for £5K on the SC with no fuss?

Strangely enough it reappeared on TZ about 6 months later for double the money.

I think that the arguement with that one was that it was still sold on at huge discount compared to AD prices - some people sided with the seller, some didn't.

Personally I'm not too bothered. If the watch is well priced it will sell and if it isn't it'll be bumped 30 times before being withdrawn. I don't agree with buying a watch from the SC knowing its cheap if you are going to put it straight on eBay for a quick profit but otherwise market prices, which rise and fall, will (should!) dictate the price. Don't think I've ever made a penny, but may have lost quite a few

Personally I don't see the issue in making a profit.
If I bought a Rolex or a Heuer 20 years ago, am I really expected to sell it on for the same amount?
Supply and demand - sometimes you make money, sometimes you lose money. I bought a NOS Seamaster 2255.80 and a NOS Heuer Pasadena last year. I've been offered significantly over what I paid for both watches. Likewise, I also have a Railmaster that now seems to be quite sought after, and have been offered 50% more than I paid for it.
If I wanted to sell, why shouldn't I take what people are prepared to pay?
For reference, none of the above are for sale!

The seller puts it up at a price they are happy with, if that happens to be below market price, then so be it. It's different if they put a watch up and state in the ad they've no idea what they go for and put the price far too low. Usually someone will tell them the going rate, and the price will be raised accordingly, Also if it's a normally expensive watch and it's far too cheap then people get suspicious.

The slight issue I have is that in the main TZ-UK is safe place to buy watches at (usually) reasonable prices. If people are solely using it to make a quick buck with no intention of keeping the watch then it may deprive genuine enthusiasts buying at a decent price. I know all this "selling for what I bought it for" nonsense can be a bit odd, but it does mean that you can pick up some bargains from time to time.

I think it's a bit of a double edged sword, You do see some watches on there that are expensive, and the seller wants to get back what he paid for it when he's overpaid for it. You make a reasonable offer and then they make those stupid posts about people making lowball offers! I really can't see how other people buying a watch for a good price on TZ then deciding to flip it and sell on ebay and make a profit will deter "genuine enthusiasts" from buying at a decent price. I could see it might deter people from selling on there, but wherever you buy and sell your watches you run the risk of the buyer selling it on at a profit.

There are a few that totally take the piss out of what they ask for watches on there, but they're some of the most brown-nosed members of a forum I've ever seen. £4300 for that 16610LV is a joke with no B&P, I may stick my a huge mark-up on something and see if I get shot down... The whole SD thing over there is hilarious, for research purchases I checked a few dealers and you could have had a similar watch for less than buying from SC!
