I have been rather proudly wearing my grandfather's watch today, for the first time in far too long. It had been in need of some serious repairs and not many people seemed to have the know how / parts, however Ryte Time Watch Repairs (found them through this forum) have done a lovely job!

A Smiths Everest, my Grandfather did security for them after he retired from the Met in the 1950's and 60's. I would guess that this is a late 50's watch but TBH i don't know much about it. My father also has a 18 carat gold Smiths Imperial that he was given on his 21st (1961)

Little things like i do like that it says "Made in England" at the bottom of the dial!

That is a handsome, well-proportioned watch. Very nice.

You get a lot of divers watches in those cases, some made by some well known names. I've got a Zenith Defy and a Chronosport in similar cases with variations of the bezel. I've also seen Heuer quartz divers amongst the many other makes that use these cases.

You do the same magnet trick but with the date button held down.

Not the most amazing watch in the world but it's served me well as a daily for around 8 years now!

I smashed the crown off it which allowed water into it, which pretty much killed it mid last year, after a £650 visit to Breitling it came back as good as new!

It's now on the house insurance too!

When it needed to be repaired I had a look at a few other watches, but I love how light this is, although I do quite fancy a black on black Bell & Ross!
I have owned one since 2001 , i havent worn it for a while as i need to replcae the battery , but its so light , especially when wearing a stainless steel watch and comparing the difference.

I'm wearing my Jorg Gray today.

Slightly off topic buy I've been thinking about selling it. Realistically, how much should I be asking for this?

Cheers.

Sell now if you think that Barak Obama will lose the election, sell it later if you think he'll win hehe
