Forgot about the Timex I was trying to regulate. The lever is in a difficult place and I had to insert a screwdriver down the side of the movement to push it. Somehow I prodded the balance wheel and knocked one end out of its seat. I sent it to Ryte Time for an overhaul after that!

It's not all been bad though smile

And writing this has been quite therapeutic.
Oh, so you've actually fixed/improved watches, then? Practice makes perfect, eh?

Might be easier to CNC from a billet?
Think you will find the set up costs for one case are going to be astronomical

Bit of a resurrection.

I've done a bit of googling as I fancy building my own watch but I can't find many places that sell faces, movements, cases etc.

I don't want anything too complicated just something that I can wear knowing that I built it.

How good are you at fixing watches? Or buggering about with the internals in general?

Never done it.

Perhaps naively, I was hoping you could buy a range of off-the-shelf cases, movements, hands and faces that would fit and work together without requiring you to have the skills of Louis Brandt.

Doesn't seem like it's that easy or even possible. Gap in the market perhaps.

Tiny market so probably not worth doing.

I'd have a fiddle with some knackered movement before you ruin a perfectly good ETA movement or 5. biggrin
