I'd be going for something simple that can be worn irrespective of any trends. I'm just about to close a deal on a 1972 Rolex Oyster.

I did this last year for my 40th and found exactly what I wanted eventually. You have to search hard.
£2K gives you plenty of options. Usual stuff from Rolex and Omega but nice vintage pieces now. IWC maybe if they did a Spitfire that far back, Tudor sub is a bit different and would come in on budget wereas a Rolex one probably wouldn't.

This is not a good thread. wink

I've searched for a watch from my birth year and there are some lovely choices out there for me.
Oh dear.

There is a Omega Speedmaster Pre-Moon 105.012 1967 on sale on TZ, that would be my choice. (If I was born in 1967)

What sort of money is this? I have an Omega Seamaster but like the idea of a Speedmaster.

I will take a look for an IWC Spitfire, I don't have an IWC yet.

DOES THIS ADDICTION GET ANY EASIER OR CHEAPER!!!

No. And the more money you earn, the more expensive the watches you want to collect. nuts

It is now £2000.

I only know about it as I'm looking for something similar for myself, but I remembered the year.

It doesn't get any easier, the more you see, the more you want.

AP anyone?

I tend to use this site
www.watchrecon.com when I'm looking for something. OK its mostly US sites but TZ was on there before they changed their rules.
What it does do is give you a good idea of prices and if you bash 1967 into the search engine it gives you a few ideas.

I'm still searching for a 1972 watch.
Had plenty offered but none have taken my fancy.
I would like my Birthyear watch to a keeper.

What have you considered and turned down, out of interest?

Put a WTB up and got 70's gold quartzed by six or so members so let the request drop.
I have been watching a vendor on the bay who offers lovely refurbed Seikos.
But feel it needs to be 'more' than a Seiko diver.

Ah. I see what you mean. I was thinking you'd turned down an SMP300 or something. biggrin

Not much help to you (or the OP) but I'm wearing my Connie f300 this morning from 1972:

OP: Have a look at Tudor as mentioned, or Heuer (non-TAG) or search round the bay for the year in wristwatches. This could take a while...

I also agree about the pre-moon Speedie if you can get one for the right money.
