Mum found another one of my Dad's old watches. Its a Seiko Automatic and needs a clean up, but its working ok.

Can anyone shed some light on what the automatic is? Is it a kinetic style watch that charges itself on your movements? It seems to be working ok when I wear it, and its keeping time ok but it did stop working when I wore another watch for a few days.

It's a traditional automatic which is powered by you moving it.
Stop moving and it will stop after 24/36 hours or so.
It's purely mechanical - there is no battery or quartz like in a Kinetic watch.

I am massively impressed with the time keeping of my Seiko Orange monster SRP309J1

It arrived with misaligned hands and was sent to Seiko UK to have that fixed

got it back last week.

day 1 -6s

day 2 -17s

days 1 to 5 -/+ 1 second !!!!!

I think Seiko calibrated it while it was in

Help me ph

I'm trying to find a SSA281 (or possibly a colour variant of this) but coming up blank at every turn.

I used to have an original 6139-7100 and I loved it but it eventually fell to pieces. These models look like a great reinvention of the design... maybe a little larger than I'd like but still great looking!

Managed to find one of these on watches88. Paid a bit extra for importing but still seemed pretty reasonable. It's a hair bigger than I would ideally like but not offensive with it.

Shame about my photo skills...

I've an order running for the mystical Amazon PADI at £240; suspect that'll never actually arrive (I've not been charged for it) so that Creation one looks a decent alternative - my last delivery from them came through very quickly.

Coincidentally I was watching the "new" XK-SS episode last night (where there was a shot of him driving Steve McQueens old car) and wondered what watch he had on - thanks!

A very late Xmas present from me to me...

I was hooked by the pics I saw of the dial and it definitely does not disappoint on the wrist :-)
