Posted this on another forum, but willing to hear people's opinion here.
Used to be the cool watch (in stainless steel) about 10 years ago with a huge waiting list.
Now they seemed to go under the radar. Opinions?

I prefer the gold ones of these. The chocolate one that someone posted on another thread is classy. For me ignoring price and affordability for a moment the lack of date puts them slightly lower down the list along with the Milgaus. I still aim to own one of each but there are others higher.
That aside I find the Daytona to be a very subtle looking watch. A few mates have SS versions and they all say other watches get noticed more.

Never got the Daytona thing personally. In fact, I prefer the Tudor version. Not everyone likes the same things though.

Toyed with the idea once, but the lack of date at the price point was the deal breaker.
I went Sub. instead.
What i can't get my head round is the residual pxs between the stainless and white gold.
When i was looking a few years back, the premium you paid for the Daytona put you within touching distance of a year old white gold. Is this still the case?

Sold my bi-colour last year. Loved it when I had it, but don't miss it now I am without.
Lots of positive comments from friends who didn't know it was a Rolex as it does not look like your stereotypical Rolly...

I agree with most of the comments above: prefer gold ones; odd residuals on s/s -v- precious metals etc. but would still have one, in any guise EXCEPT the leopard print one.
for any of those who sit through TOWIE (SWMBO insists...honest) Joey Essex has a lovely Daytona, not sure if rose or yellow gold (rose I think), but it's a lovely hue and looks the business.

Bought both white and black faced Daytona @ £3670
Wear the white one every now and again. , black one has never been worn.
Prefer my non date sub which I wear everyday.
Missed a solid yellow gold Daytona last year for £6000 , now that would have been a canny buy.

Very nearly bought one about 5 years ago when they were still going for well over list. I think I can say with some certainty that it would be unlikely if I still had it now as my tastes have changed, but they still look great, and look pretty subtle by modern standards. Very under the rader compared to nowadays massive bling pieces for sure.
Personally I think they can look better on women than men - victoria beckham being a good example with her gold everose one.

Not for me - a bit generic looking.

Top man. To be fair not at the same time , waited 4 years for the first (white) , then put a deposit on the next one straight away . Put a fair bit of business their way , then noticed people from all over the country on the waiting list , made a little complaint about it and lo and behold had a black faced daytona a month later .

Can't say I've ever been a fan of Daytona or most Rolexes* for that matter, but when buying a watch, what matters to me is do I like it, feel comfortable with it on my wrist, not what other people may or may not think.
*Or whatever the pural of Rolex is.

I really want one and tried alot of Rolex dealers in England end of last year but no one had a white SS and waiting list was still pretty long.
Anyone know any new ones available?

Vintage daytona ala Paul Newman must surely be cool. Modern SS ones certainly can't be IMHO, just to obvious. Some of the interesting WG or YG variations though are a maybe if you can carry it off. All my opinion of course.

Anyone know any new ones available? They are out there if you know where to look. Avoid the greys which seem easily avialable at non-AD's, often at a premium. Try the smaller private companies in the provincial towns. The trick is convincing the owner to sell their Daytona to you instead of someone else. I recently got a s/s black dial from a UK AD at list. Once I made my mind up that I wanted one, I got one in a month. This was from a jeweller I'd never done business with before.
