Does anyone sell either the leather perforated, or tyre track rubber straps other than Chopard? I would prefer not to have to spend £300 every 2 years to replace them!

Thank you

nice but .... why do you have to replace the rubber strap - mine is fine after many years?

Thanks Pesty, a good start.

Funnily enough I need to replace it because it's broken. As has the leather Oem replacement. As have a friends.

£300? Wow, but you won't get the nice smell with a non-Chopard rubber one.

When I got my speed black they threw in a leather strap - the way the guy casually did it I presumed they were about £100.

I alternate the two and after three years they are both OK.

I'm probably going to get slated, but during a trip to bodrum last month, I was offered a superb MM replica for £70. Having recently seen a second hand MM rubber strap going for £190 on eBay recently I was going to buy it it just for the strap as dimension wise it was bob on to the genuine one I got for my 40th - but I was late for my last bus home !! I paln to pick a couple up when Im next over in May if you can wait. And while we are on the subject of having our pants pulled down on strap prices, I recently made a visit to my face watch emporium Mallorys of bath and asked out of interest the price of a stainless bracelet. "That will be £1062" Gulp. Good job I think they look crack then lol!!!

Quite so. I am even starting to think a fleabay imitation may do. Thank you for the offer but can't wait til May. If I wait much longer I will lose the watch!

Anyone got further thoughts on replacement leather straps for the Chopard Mille Miglia. I don’t like rubber straps, as I tend to get sore beneath them. I forgot to leave the watch in my room when I went swimming in a very heavily chlorinated pool in India earlier this year and the leather has deteriorated a lot since then. It is about 5 years old so not doing too bad. I think that Chopard want around £270 for just the leather bits and you have to move your existing buckle over. This must allow for about a £260 profit margin, which I am reluctant to award to them. I am not too worried if the strap does not have the holes punched in it, as I think they are bit naff anyway but I quite like the red stitching.

eBay has plenty to choose from, worldwide, and at all different price points.
You could also get custom ones made from various exotic materials, for half or less than the OEM one you're rightly reluctant to shell out on.

We'll atg still do black leather 22mm with holes and red stitching for 75 ish if you look at accessories.

Recently bought very nice straps from steinhart

Thanks for the suggestions guys. This is the smaller of the Mille Miglia models and only has 19mm between the lugs and fits into a 16mm buckle. I have tried a couple of the made to measure people and they have been less than wholly helpful, suggesting that I cram a 20mm strap, with 18mm buckle width in and wanting to sell me ones made out of dinosaur skin etc. I just want a really nice quality black calf strap, padded in the middle (to give it the correct thickness) and red stitched. I will have to keep looking. All the straps on Fleabay seem to the rubber tyre tread ones, which I don’t find comfortable.

Look here smile 19mm

http://www.watch-band-center.com/watchstrap-s1827h...

Used this place before very good service. Racing style 19mm listed lots of options you can also choose different styles by 19mm size

The rios straps are very good and padded but don't seem to do red.

Edit ps seiko are 19mm and you can squeeze in 20mm leather straps for loads more options. Done it loads of times but I realise you want 19

Hirsch, di model and rios all make very good straps at good prices that's were I'd try first.

I found a company in France called ABP who would make me an identical leather strap. The problem is that the cost was slightly more than the exact quote I have now had back from Chopard, which was £219. I think that getting a non standard strap which would not look correct is spoiling the ship for a ha’penny worth of tar on this very nice looking watch, so I am just going to order the correct one. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to arrive, by which time I will be back in the UK from France.

Pesty,

I have to admit the Rios one is very tempting. It looks identical other than the white stitching and is available immediately.

I Tend to agree. It's very difficult to see the quality of none oem straps. If oem last 5 years or so then £200 isn't too bad.smile

Surprised to hear that they taper a 19mm down to 16mm – cheap bds!
Anyway……

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Leather-Waterpro...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIOS1931-Germany-Genuine... – based on this, consider contacting RIOS directly to see if they can customise it with red thread……. http://www.rios1931shop.com/storepage1879216.aspx

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Di-Modell-RALLYE-WATERPR...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-19mm-Black-LEATHER-S...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19mm-Top-Quality-Black-C...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18MM-20MM-LEATHER-WATCH-...

http://www.watch-band-center.com/watchstrap-s1358h... – probably easier to let you look through all those.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19mm-Fluco-Black-Horween... – might be worth contacting Fluco and seeing if they too can change the thread colour……… http://www.fluco.de/1283__flucohttpconfigmarktplat...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HQ-18MM-20MM-22MM-RACING... – can't find LIMA, but bear in mind that 18mm could be ±0.5mm, and similarly 20mm. You might not notice a 1mm bit of play and after a short while, 20mm will compress, so 19mm isn't absolutely critical.

If all else fails, buy the bracelet – assuming it's the correct one for yours……. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chopard-Mille-Miglia-Ban...

When Chopard UK got back to me a few minutes ago, I got a pleasant surprise. As my titanium buckle is OK and is transferrable, the cost of the leather bits was £109. I therefore went ahead with the order. This time I will know to keep out of swimming pools with it! The chlorine or whatever the chemical was, must have reacted with some preservative in the leather. Not only did it spoil the strap but it raised big blisters on my wrist under the strap.

The last time I had something like that happened was when I was deer stalking in Scotland about 20 years ago and crawled though a bog, which had been recently sprayed with very strong tick insecticide, to reduce the risk of Lyme disease. The chemical must have soaked into the leather of my watch strap (a Breitling RAF wartime commemorative). My skin went bright red and itchy, where the strap was in contact. No matter how many times I washed the strap afterwards, it kept on doing that, so I had to replace the strap.

Again many thanks for all the helpful suggestions to all.
