Apologies for the camera phone picture.
I was given this by a colleague who was retiring from work. I arranged a big leaving do for him with a meal out and gifts.
I wasn't expecting anything in return and he gave me his wrist watch. I have spent £400 at Omega Southampton restoring this watch.
Anyone know what it is called and the approx age?

This is a timely thread (pardon the pun) as it's 10 years this month that I registered my 40th Anniversary James Bond Seamaster.
I've worn it pretty much every day and it's also accompanied me on some memorable outings...
National 3 Peaks Challenge, diving, drinking, life events, etc, etc... and it still looks brand new
I thought about selling about 7 years ago and then recently but I think I'd rather have a 'nut' removed.!!
(maybe not)...
Edited to highlight my obvious pun

Sorry to spoil the party, but here's my Steel/Gold Constellation:
Yes it has the yellow stuff and it is very different to the rest of the watches in my collection. More of a formal wear watch.
I got it on the birth of my baby daughter. Every time I wear it, it puts a smile on my face. And that is what it is all about...
Will never part with it.

One of the first managers I looked upto had the steel version of this. It was the first time I'd ever heard of Omega. Lovely watch. Yes it has the yellow stuff and it is very different to the rest of the watches in my collection. More of a formal wear watch.

No need to apologise. Watches are a personal choice and the more the merrier I say.Yes it has the yellow stuff and it is very different to the rest of the watches in my collection. More of a formal wear watch.

That's a fine piece you've got there made better by the meaning behind it. To me that's what watches are all about, the fact they tell the time is a bonus.

You'll need to get the case back off and find the movement numbers. When you've got them have a look here:I was given this by a colleague who was retiring from work. I arranged a big leaving do for him with a meal out and gifts.

and you should be able to get the approximate year of manufacture.
Not sure if this constitutes gatecrashing a thread.
Was originally going to get a Tag for my 40th. Now leaning more towards a Omega Speedmaster (3573.50.00). The 3573.50.00 appear to be fetching quite high prices (£2.5k) used. Given that I have seen some new for around £2.8k undecided on whether to go for new. Any advice ?

I'd buy new for 2.8k on interest free credit over 3 years, in that case. Was originally going to get a Tag for my 40th. Now leaning more towards a Omega Speedmaster (3573.50.00). The Aqua Terra is an amazing watch, 60hr reserve and just so well constructed. That said though I am about to sell it as I want (and always have wanted) a Railmaster.
Anyone know how easy it is to fit a strap as well?

I wear it as a daily work watch with suits and it looks superb, I have knocked I a couple of times and its survived ok so far, no marks etc. The movement is visible and looks amazing, see something new every time I look at it. It feels every bit as solid as anything else I have tried, and it was up against an Explorer 1 when it was bought.
Timekeeping wise, I rarely have to adjust it. I am going to pickup a leather strap (deployment style) as it transforms the watch and makes it a real multi use etc (or trade it for a Railmaster) You don't see many around either.

I love it, so simple and absolutely stunning up close. Avoid the quartz version, it's very very shiny and doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the automatic - but then it is double the price. Of the watches I own it's the one I can't stop looking at when I wear it.

Cheers for the info, that's precisely why I want to get one...most people take the PO route, but I'm interested in the Aqua Terra and actually had a Rail Master back in 2009. It was beautiful, however just slightly too big for my wrist, where as the AT is perfect. I've seen a few with a black strap and I think with the white face, it looks almost perfect! Good luck with the next purchase
