Hi guys..a bit of help please...

I have bought strap and watch..
What's the easiest way to take steel bracelet off? Can someone recommend
me a tool,or should I just take to a watch shop?
Paul
I bought a watch tool kit from Maplin for £10. Spring bar tool, case-back remover, tweezers and air-blowy duster thing. The spring bar tool alone is £4. It did the job swapping from bracelet to strap on my Hydroconquest just fine.
Thanks speed twelve.. Marlin it is

Have bought the strap, and also the watch..
Paid 700 euros for the automatic while in Italy last week
Wow!
I've always been after a Longines auto, and that's one of the few sub styles I like because of the nice big clear numbers.
I bought this the other day:

Only 200m but it's an auto and looks very fine, found a rubber strap version for about $100 via amazon.
So if the Longines is the value Omega, the Orient is the value Longines wink

Can you post a real photo of your Longines up? Manufacturers photos always make the watch look rubbish compared to real life for some reason.
Plus is there both a blue and a black version or is that just lighting?
Orient is owned, or part owned by Seiko I think. Nice looking watch. I see these on Amazon UK, but it's a reseller.

I'm quite taken with these auto hydroconquests.

Struggling to decide between a blue or a red bezelled one though. The red just seems a little more jazzy, if you know what I mean.
I think the red is also a 2013 model, anybody found a decent AD to supply at non retail? (I managed to get a blue one down to £700 via email). I'm sure an improvement could be made on that though.

Just returned from my summer holiday and took my HC along as my only watch.

Did a couple of c. 20m dives with it as well as visiting the beach, pool and desert.

Did everything with aplomb as you'd expect, the extension on the bracelet worked perfectly to let me wear it over a wetsuit too!

A few small scratches on the clasp now, but I don't buy watches to flip, so I'm happy for my diver's watch to bear a few 'real-diving' marks biggrin

How good are Orients then? confused

If Seiko has a stake in Orient, that bodes well.

Bargain bits of kit, esp. the autos which use Seiko mechanicals. Strange designs sometimes, though.

Thanks 'rooster. Thanks to your reply, I did a quick Google and saw nothing but praiseworthy reviews:

Incredible, considering the (low) price for an Orient automatic. An in-house movement to boot! I think an Orient must be the answer to the "which beater dive watch" thread.

Mine's been really nice TBH. I bought it because it has an in-house Japanese movement TBH, rather than a silly replica I preferred to buy a real quality watch for basically peanuts biggrin

You can see the blue face reflection here:

And the lume here, lighting up the nice clear numbers,

It's also got good Lume and the day is a nice touch. I was actually a bit cheaper than my Seiko 5 with an extra 100m of water resistance and a rotating bezel. I bought mine with a rubber strap (cheaper and I don't get on with stainless segmented, so I could try nato and other straps. My favourite strap now for it is the Shark-mesh one, lovely cool and dry in summer too.

Both crowns are screw-down, the smaller one is a pusher to change the day.

How did you get on, can't decide between blue, black or the red bezel myself. Suggest here 4-6 weeks,
http://www.chisholmhunter.co.uk/gents-longines-bra... for supply of the red bezel, like you seems more jazzy but don't know if I prefer the classic black or blue

The red looks hideous, black is rather boring and more reminiscent of a coal mine than the sea, it's a DIVERs watch therefore it has to be blue biggrin
The only valid exceptions to this are orange or yellow as these are traditional dive colours too...

I quite like it actually - reminiscent of a Tudor Black Bay - although I'm still not 100% convinced by the look of the updated face.

All the new models (red bezel included) are not available until Sept.
The 3 changes which I'm aware of are:
- the use of numbers all round the face as opposed to just very large 12, 6 and 9.
- Removal of the blingy shiny middle link of the braclet
- An updated movement.

Best price I can secure is £700 on any of the 3 colours. I'll be holding out until Sept regardless, because I don't like the current model due to the bracelet.
I'm still undecided on Red or Blue.

Damn, now you have put a further spanner in the works do I wait for Sept! This is my first big watch purchase, would you get a bigger discount of the outgoing model if you waited until the new one came out? Where are you getting it for £700?

I'm sure there is potential for bigger discounts if you call up the dealer in question. (I've secured that price via email)

However, both models I'm interested in (41mm) will need to be ordered in and the delivery times are very similar, so personally, I'm waiting for the new one. The bracelet alone clinches it for me.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post the dealer on here or not, so for sake of doing the right thing, it is a dealer name made up of 2 parts.
First name is a place you deposit money, second name is big cat with a maine, albeit spelt the same way as a cake company with a Y for the 2nd letter!

There seems to be a lot of love for the hydroconquest on here, but what about the normal conquest? I'm not after a diver and prefer the look of the conquest.

Friend got one as a wedding present from his missus, I think its £480 for the quartz. Its a stunning watch ,very versatile and exceptionally well made for the money as well as having the heritage of a decent brand.

There's a two tone Conquest I really like. Sadly it's a lot more than a Hydro!

The shop I was at at the weekend only had one size, wasn't aware there was two,I assume it was the smaller one I tried on. I think I possibly prefer the face on the 2013, just need to decide between blue or black. Do you have a confirmed delivery date?

The 2 sizes are 39mm and 41mm.
The delivery date is 6-8 weeks, so that puts it towards the end of Sept.
