Yeah...well I had a Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay for about 15 years which did it's job well (but unspectacularly!) with a metal bracelet and reasonably small face, but it packed up recently and I've lusted after a large faced aviator style chrono for a long while! Unsurprisingly I keep 'checking the time' at the moment.

I do need to get myself a cheapish bashable watch now though.....eying up a Seiko 5 at the moment :P
And so it begins...

I bought a G shock shortly after buying my first halfway decent watch (Seiko kinetic as it happens). Looking back, that was the
point where I tumbled down the rabbit hole...

How big is it?

M.
It's a 41mm diameter but wears big due to the domed glass and thin bezel. I also have absolutely tiny wrists which meant a 44 or 46mm looked a little ridiculous.

Indeed! Going to resist any temptations to get anything else as pricey as the B&R, but can see myself getting a few 'every day' workhorses now....and £50 seems a steal....but it's all relative :P

I agonised over the choices of dial and date but in the end I think this is the closest to the original 1962 design (birth year - belated birthday gift) and best exemplifies the Bauhaus philosophy.

I tried this watch (with a black leather strap) on in Wempe a week or so ago, I went there specifically for that reason. Really lovely thing it was but it just didn't grab me like I was hoping, had it worn well enough I would have snaffled one there and then. Bit gutted really, was so looking forward to seeing one in the metal as well, may have to give it a second chance.

For me the mesh bracelet is what just makes it. That said I haven't seen one in the flesh yet... Tomorrow will tell!

Hi Guys.

I'm considering the purchase of an AP Royal Oak offshore. It's a pretty sweet deal financially, but does anyone have any horror stories or good things to say about the piece?

It's made by one of the finest watch makers there is, the rest of it is personal preference really. Never been a fan of the ROO look myself, but that's just me smile

Out of interest, how much of a sweet deal is it? Link?
