This arrived yesterday
(Well not this exact one as it belongs to the guy who builds them and the photo is from his website).
It's a Field Engineer chronograph from: http://www.classicchronographs.co.uk I have gone for the Roman numeral bezel as shown rather than the tachymeter bezel that is also offered.
It's large on my skinny wrist but a lovely piece of work as well as being original and rare. Nice person to deal with and he offers a very decent warranty.

Are Tag/Omegas much weaker than these or do they just not play on strength as much as that blurb does?
I love the sound of something tough as feck, rare as feck and (working in the offshore industry) cool as feck.
I'd like to hear more about your experiences with buying/owning. £1275 is a lot of money for me to spend so it needs to be really special.

I agree £1275 is not cheap but seems to be good value for a handbuilt watch based on a quality automatic movement.
My early impressions:
It is a big watch (as you will see if you look at p25 of the Wrist Check thread) but my wrists are very skinny. It is not as heavy as it looks but is a solid piece. The watch feels very comfortable and I like the strap which is snug without feeling tight. The crown and pushers are very definate in action and tight - the crown particularly so and although not a screw down crown it won't get pulled out accidentally. Time keeping seems excellent (I have not done any formal test but it stays within a second or two of my Rolex explorer and my radio linked alarm clock).
Lume is subtle but adequate for telling the time through the night and still clearly visible at dawn.
Nice mix of brushed and polished steel makes it interesting and I enjoy the view through the sapphire case back when bored! a few friends have noticed the watch and commented favourably.
The purchase process was really pleasant. If you want to try before you buy Lorne will send you a watch to try but not if you are overseas (explained on his website). Dealt by e-mail and was impressed that it is still possible to do so on trust - no deposit asked for and when the watch was ready it was sent to me ont he same day I posted a cheque in the opposite direction.
In summary I have been very pleased and impressed with the whole deal so far.

If, as I suspect, it's built to any comparable quality (at least internally) to the vastly more expensive Omega/Rolex offerings it'll be a lovely thing to own for years to come. I think having a very special, small production watch may make it a better 21st present.
How long did it take from initial order to delivery?
I'm pretty much sold on the idea now...

After much thought between a Junghan's Max Bill Chrono and a Tudor Black Bay, I decided against them both and instead went for the Omega Speedy Pro!
Just picked it up and brought it home and I've now decided that its a little too tight for my puny wrists so will have to go back and have a chain put back in
Very nice watch though, understated and just the right size for my taste.
These are great watches but I almost never wear mine. I should probably sell it, but I doubt I'd get the money I want for it!Just picked it up and brought it home and I've now decided that its a little too tight for my puny wrists so will have to go back and have a chain put back in

Mine took about 10 days - partly because I wanted the Roman numeral dial and not the tachymeter. Check on the website but I think he has one ready to send out when a customer comes along. If, as I suspect, it's built to any comparable quality (at least internally) to the vastly more expensive Omega/Rolex offerings it'll be a lovely thing to own for years to come. I've started a topic in the hope people will suggest other similarly priced watches. If anything springs to mind please post it on there, I'm a novice you see!
Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
Picked up one of these Damasko DA36 Black's today, as I wanted a black watch in the collection. I was originally thinking a Sinn 856, but reading online and reviews, these seem to have a better spec, especially the case hardening. A real tool watch. Here's a few pics. Second pic shows the AR coating on the crystal. It's very clear to read, from most angles. I also bought a Damasko black rubber strap and black nato which will arrive next week:-
