Despite not really liking the look of it I've just ordered a limited edition Bremont Royal Marines Commando. Im on my phone so can't post pics but it should be here some time in the next few weeks. Just needs my service number authorised by the Marines. Judging by other bremont special editions it should gain value in the right circles.

I ordered mine a while back and just received the final invoice. I need to chance my delivery address then pay for it and it should be with me late this week or the next.

Out of interest why did you choose the Bremont over the "other 350th" watch that is available?

I was concerned about the looks but going by peoples real life SM500 pics I think it looks awesome. The engraving on the back may be a little chad but once it's on you can't see it. As you say its a decent reduction in price and there's only 350 of them.

What's the other one then? I know Breitling did a RM watch a few years back (didnt like it myself) and Citizen are doing their Titanium Royal Marines models (got one) but didn't know there were any other contenders worth noting.

I chose it because i was curious. I initially couldn't stomach it due to the chad Corps colours on the face, but the investment value is high enough for me to get one and then maybe make a couple of £k if i wanted to sell. The RN Submarine Clearance Divers editions are going between £5k and £8k depending on condition etc. You never know though, I might actually really like it when it arrives.

Did you order any extras or alterations? I can live with the Royal Marines Commando text on the face, that I quite like, but I might have to delete the Corps colours with a bit of black maskers for real RM authenticity.

Delivery date wise, Bremont have said that all the watches are ready and the delay is on engraving. Over 200 have already been shipped so it won't be long.

Can you post some pics when it arrives?

Yeah I will if it arrives before yours of course!

I didn't change it at all but ordered a metal bracelet as it is also discounted. It comes with a rubber strap and a NATO strap in your choice of colour. I actually don't mind the corps colours on the front.

The other watch is a Breitling Avenger Seawolf 2. I considered both but prefer the look of the Bremont, it's mostly made in the UK and the UPO in Poole didn't answer any emails about the Breitling. I can't find the Breitling anywhere online but have seen it advertised in the G&L and around camp.

Only thing I requested was a brown leather strap.

What unit you at?

Nope, but I suspected many would think along those lines if they recognised tritium tubes, when they saw them.
You'll have to delve Deeper into your repository of brands which utilise them.

CHF but there were also posters on the walls at CLR before I left there in April. I can get you a pic of the poster if you want?

There are loads of things available for the RM 350. Port, monopoly boards, ale and even a solid silver Commando dagger at £999!

Just put deposit down on one of these...

My second 'proper' watch and one I've been after for a while but been pondering over leather vs steel. Just got to wait 1-3 weeks now for arrival...

£999??? Thats a proper rip off. Silver is not exactly expensive and it'll be a cast item. I did get a 30 Commando bottle of Port off my mate from Stonehouse when i made his engagement ring last month. I'll be keeping that and not drinking it.

Do you know Justin Morgan?

That was my first thought however the bracelet, bezel and case shape aren't typical of Ball divers. I'm going for Deep Blue's Daynight T100, which matches the clue that's been given.

No qualms about guessing the correct answer, but a bloody great big photo rather spoils the little game being played.

He's at CHF as sea king crew. Was door gunner and loady in afghan. Joined up with him. Think he did SAR for a bit too.

I treated myself to a speedy for my birthday in March and had the strap/bracelet debate. As I have bracelet watches I chose the strap. It's a lovely thing to own.
