Incoming… what do you have? (Vol. 3)

Don't get me wrong, it's not a snobbish thing. I've got lots of lower priced/unknown brand watches that I really like, Magrette/Stowa/Seiko, etc. I'm also eying up those Obris Morgan divers, and an MHD that is based on a Seiko, so it's not that I'm only after 'big' pieces.
It's just that with a young family it feels incredibly selfish to drop a couple of grand on a watch, so I end up buying a series of mid-price watches instead, and over the course of a couple of years find that I've spent what I felt I couldn't justify in the 1st place, and yet still don't have the watch I was really craving!
Ah, gotcha.....well in that case, that's a moral dilemma only you can really resolve.
The fact you've figured out an amount (or greater) that you wrestled with as being selfish, has been spent already, indicates you've used the wrong adjective – so there's something else holding you back from making the change to one or two dearer pieces.
Maybe it's simply the variety and differences each piece offers, but you secretly desire the cachet/status of the costlier ones, and are trying to ratify the two.

Might have this incoming later in the year, if they get the project off the ground:

Very interesting. I would like a cheap, tough dive watch like the Obris Morgan Explorer 2 or this thing. I'd like to see a finished logo on it before putting my money down, though.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/544218876/the...

Yes, that's the only thing that's bugging me. They do say they are going to change the logo plinth though:"Changes Before Production
The main changes that will be made to the watch before production will be to the crown (deeper ridges, deeper engraving, beveled edge), and to the logo on the dial. The logo plaque will be completely redone.
Input from customers will definitely be considered."
My thoughts were that, as I got in early on the backing, if I don't like the watch I can pop it on ebay and get my original stake back at the very least.
I'm also thinking of backing a few more watches on Kickstarter, I think if you get in early it can be a good deal.
I got a neat Fossil watch from the GF this christmas, I really like the dial layout and it's something a little different. I didn't quite like the green strap it came with, so I bought a brown strap and changed the buckle for a Hirsch black one to match the watch. It's not a lot but I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Before
With brown leather strap
Buckle before
and after
As I said not much but I enjoyed tinkering around to get it looking how I like. Service from watchobsession.co.uk was great too, ordered yesterday and arrived today.

And so you should be. Good choice and a pretty effective mod. Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
