hehe

Johan's (yonsson's) wrist shots on TZ made it look OK, and I know he has a smaller wrist than me because I bought my GS from him. At least, that's my justification anyway biggrin

Went shopping for a jumper today, came home with this... Omega Speedmaster 'First Omega in Space'

Lovely... and far more practical than a jumper!
Some things from the 1960's didn't really last; jumpers and trousers to name two. The moon watch did and so on balance it's much more sensible than today's equivalent of a natty tank-top. What is today's equivalent of a tank-top? Probably a smedley roll top or some hipster thing.

That was what prompted me too. Here's hoping it wasn't a trick of the light and camera angles.

I was perusing eBay last night and noticed someone selling one of these:

It looks pretty nice IMO (much nicer with the rubber strap vs the bracelet) and it's a Precisionist so pretty unique and has to all intents and purposes a sweeping second hand.

A bit more searching and I found that Goldsmiths of all people are selling them new for £115. This seems like a bit of a steal.

Worth a punt? Or is it garbage?

I have a Precionist and its a good watch.
The second hand isn't 'to all intents and purposes' a sweep second hand - its a smoother sweep than any mechanical watch you can by. Its eerily smooth!
Battery life is supposed to be 12 months but mines been running for over 2 years so far and still not had a battery. I use it as the reference for setting the time on any of my other watches its so accurate.
At that price its a bargain and I'd go for it if the style suits you.

One of the few quartz watches I'd consider owning (along with the original Tag Formula 1).

I said "to all intents and purposes" as technically it does still tick, just much more frequently than any other watch movement. Spring Drive being the only true sweeper as far as I know.

I'm pondering cancelling my Steinhart order and grabbing one of these and an Orient sun and moon for about half the price all in. Then again I do quite fancy some proper Swissness...

Fair enough....

You could get the Steinhart and the Precisionist....;-)

This is like mine (mine has a croc strap):

Hopefully should be here in 2 or 3 weeks biggrin
I like that a LOT, begining to think I prefer that to the one I've just bought

Just got a Steinhart Ocean 1 Green (Kermit sub lookylikey). Hopefully it will be there waiting for me when I get back home on Friday.

+1

Had mine for a while now, and I've not had to worry about the battery yet.

Nice solidity to it, but without being too big and overtly flashy.

As good a reason for purchase as you'll find on the forum thumbup

Nice watch, i'd be thinking black rubber strap myself.

The beast arrived this morning and although big, it's not as comically large as I feared it would be. This is mainly because the watch isn't visually as big as the official dimensions would suggest. Casio state 59.1mm length for the case length but the lug to lug is actually only around 50 mm and the bezel is around 43mm in diameter. It's no shrinking violet but as G-Shocks go it's not bad at all. It's nicely finished and for less than £200 I think pretty good value.

Would love that if it didn't have the slightly off piste backplate shape. It doesn't seem to fit with the watch face. Otherwise a beauty! Nice and simple. What's the damage for something like that?

That'll be the camera angle

They list at $2490, but I believe they ship from Europe (so about £1600).

I managed to get this 2nd hand, so a bit less!
