Yes, they became the aspirational watch of choice for the baseball cap wearing posse. 1993-1995 - watch conversations changed from 'Oh, Heuer' to 'is that Tag(sic) a fake mate?'...

"yeah, but it's a really good one - you can't tell the difference!"

as the bracelet falls apart*, the dial wobbles every time you set the time, and the plating comes off in chunks.

  • Ok, that could be seen as a mark of authenticity for some of the early TH models biggrin

Bit sweary, not quartz related, but interesting.
In my opinion, even back in the 90's tag used higher quality eta, so not a bad product. But now they seem to go for the lower end movements, which aren't even serviceable. Shame.
I'm personally liking the retro looks of tudor. Might be worth saving for another year and jumping up a level in the watch world.
Archieluxury?
I was looking at getting a Monaco last year,glad I didn't.

Archieluxury is a . My cat knows more about horology and he just likes to listen to them tick.

One TAG-Heuer movement is certainly Seiko-derived (not actually a bad thing), but another movement is perhaps the greatest chrono calibre of all time, as well as being the first automatic chronograph movement!

I wouldn't be surprised if Seiko quality was higher than current TAG Heuer quality.

Plus Seiko won't charge £250 to service a quartz watch smile

That said, TAG Heuer can still create some very nice designs on occasion. Though their designs have been a bit hit and miss recently.

I went into town yesterday with the intention of looking at the tag f1, just in case I could be turned, but expectation of buying a seiko, and came away with...a longines hydroquest automatic. £100 off for cash. Not like me to buy something having done no research, but early impressions are good.
