I quite like that RM, and while there are quite a few dreadful ones, in general I like the brand. Pateks, Langes, etc have a more traditional look but not everyone wants that look in a watch, especially if you're under 40. As my mate said to me the other day, you've got all you're middle age to wear watches like that. Therefore, if I were to have the funds, I would definitely consider a RM.
You make a very good point actually - much like some cars (Astons often) are considered middle aged / older people's cars, the same could be said of watches. If I'd come into a ton of money and needed a watch at 22, I doubt I'd have bought a platinum Patek Perpetual Calendar.
To balnace that, a 60 years old might look a bit silly with an RM. Unfortunately with such things, they're often the only ones in the position to buy them
Not keen on the 35 to be honest, looks a bit of a jumble of a meccano set to me. I think the RM55 is a far better looking watch & they gave it the see through back, so the whole movement 'floats' are better than in the 35.
Even I agree some RM's are far nicer than others, some look messy, some not, I really don't like the RM16's the flat ones, the RM15 yatch one is just horrible also, RM21 , not keen at all.
Always stirs up a storm around here the RM thing...
This is my fave at mo, RM32..old sly stallone seems to have moved to wearing one, moved away from panerais, looks good on his massive fore arm, but at 50 mm you need to be relatively big to wear it
Not well liked the RM divers, but I think its a great design, the chrono has a minute hand ( the one with the big arrow head ) and the second hand going around the main dial , instead of the usual sub dials...a chrono I can actually read well at a glance. Has an annual calendar ( month at 4/5 oclock )and a lovely indicateur du march, which rotates white & black to show its running.
details are great, 30 titanium screws hold on the divers bezel, it has a lot of depth in the dail, very 3d in person, and its a helluva chunk of titanium the case. Fits very well on the wrist for such a big watch due to it being nice & light & the case is curved underneath so it sits really nicely & snug...it does actually fit better than my platinum ALS dato, and indeed other watches made from heavy golds etc that seem to slide with the weight of the case on the wrist....
anyway here we go ....I have my flak jacket on , fire away ....I don't care really , its a great watch so there!

Thanks Debaser, not used to positive posts on the RM stuff, indeed it is mine...
this is my other fave , the 002, lovely size, again titanium so sits nicely. The rubber straps are excellent, and they actually help disguise the piece as it were. Not once have I ever had anyone really notice any RM watch I have worn, to 99% of the public, I think they see them as casio G shocks or something, being quite large. Whatever you say about the money, if you want to shout value watch then you don't buy an RM, more people seem to notice your wrist when you wear a rolex submariner. I once went to a theme park all day in the 52 skull watch in summer in a tshirt, so no sleeves no one noticed a thing,I figured most people would think it was a diesel designer watch or something!...all fine with me I buy these things for me,not for show, and as I say they never really get noticed at all

I've always liked the look of RMs, and had this confirmed when I was able to try one on earlier in the year.
To my eyes, they're fascinating to look at closely. I will probably get lambasted for this, but most the models from the usual suspects at this price point that are offered up as the 'real' enthusiast's choices (PP, A.Lange & Söhne, VC etc) rarely float my boat. Moot point as they're all out of my league, anyway.

Nice to hear some positive feedback on RM's on here for a change. I do also like the more traditional style watch, but is not a question of one over the other, a 3d skeleton RM is a great contrast to an ALS or classic patek, and both are very complimentary in a collection. I must admit I do like to look at a complex dial with a bit going on and RM does that very well ....not for everyone but we all have differant tastes
