When you have as many watches as I do, you get drawn to stuff you would not think of buying if you only had a couple of watches. This was a must have for me.Here, have another pic
Everything about this watch is weird. The colour is unusual. The case is thicker at the top than the bottom, so the dial and crystal slopes towards you. The placement of the crown. The 70s style applied markers and the chequer pattern on the chapter ring. The contrast between the sunburst and the horizontal brush on the dial. The sub-dial actually has it's own mini sunburst, which I only noticed today. The bracelet also is unusual, but comfortable.
I even like the weird spot in the centre of the crystal + this watch is made by Seiko so I have no worries about quality.

I have the same watch but in blue!!
I read that AKA Alba was a subsidiary of Seiko as is J R Springs and a few others!n The caseback is extremely Seiko-esque!!
here's mine!!"
By the way, I've collected watches for slightly over 40 years now and like you, I have loads, around 2,500 or more!!
Here's some laid out on the bed
HAGWE
Cheers, John
The latest to join the collection was this Armani!
It's most likely a fake as I bought it at the bootsale for next to nothing needing a cell fitting, someone had removed the caseback and not managed to get it back!!!
It's strange in that it doesn't take the common as muck 626 watch cell but rather the rarer 616 (i can only remember once fitting a 616 and like this one, I had to go and buy one from the shop as I don't keep this one in!!)
Also, the quality of the SS case/bracelet is superb though i'm going to have to remove the movement so I can clean the inside of the crystal as there seems to be loads of lint in there
Anyhow, I cleaned the watch and polished the scratches out then fitted the cell and it's running extremely well and keeping time accurately..
These pics I took before I let loos with the dremel and buffing tool!!
Cheers, have a great weekend everyone

Just came across this
http://www.brathwait.com/product/the-classic-slim-...
New company but doing things how they should be imo (they tell you the exact cost of each part to build)
Stunning too

That's a lovely piece On the right watch, plongeur hands are a great design element.
Thamks. When not wearing it now, I struggle not to see the minute hand on whatever I'm wearing; amazing how quickly you can get used to something. I'm no longer looking for the 'big hand', just the bright hand!Edited by SVS on Friday 11th July 21:40

I will have to show this to the wife. She thinks my 70ish pieces is ridiculous. Thankyou for saving my marriage.
Only too happy to help save a marriage!!

Hi John
I have seen your infamous "bed shot" on thewatchforum. My collection is much smaller than yours, but growing despite my efforts to move a few on.
I would guess the Armani is probably genuine as the bracelet does look nicely made.
I like the blue AKA, but I'm surprised you found it with so many to look through Do you store them in alphabetical order by brand?

Wow, an Offshore Field Engineer! Now there's one you don't see everyday - perhaps the rarest watch I've seen on Wrist Check.

I was only thinking the other day how popular these seem to have become on PH and how regularly they're mentioned and shown on here!Edited by SVS on Sunday 13th July 23:16
And that's because I just don't get them at all! Perhaps I need to see one in the flesh and handle one?!

For me it was a no-brainer, would much rather one of these than a 2nd hand Omega/Tag etc. As a 21st birthday memento it's perfect.

I did a race to the Equator earlier this year and Offshore Field Engineer did a one-off commemorative watch for the race / put up some sponsorship... I think there were only 3 or 4 made for some of the organisers / as special prizes.Edited by SVS on Sunday 13th July 23:16

What's everyones thoughts on these?
http://www.instrmnt.co.uk/
Fairly cheap for a nice looking modern / classic mix.
Not sure why they're promoting the swiss movement side, when it's just an electric movement, but they look nice none the less.

Because the Ronda is a perfectly decent Swiss quartz movement?Nice to know it's not a cheapy made in China.
