Finally on my wrist - black 22mm croc with a big steel Breitling buckle which will do for now. An original twinjet 16mm buckle is on the way from the US of A with 2 x 22/16mm lizard straps, one brown, one black and two NOS chronograph pushers to make it look minty. I am going to really enjoy this watch!

This is the first time I've spent much time in here for a month, mostly due to a manic time at work.

Today I'm wearing this seldom-worn watch:

Thanks. I dont really like the more blingy Hublots, too much going on but I thought this was on the subtle side when I chose it.

Keeping with the theme of German simplicity, for exactly 10% the price of the Sinn:

I finally feel like I'm worthy of this Macintosh. I might get a black roll-neck.
I too have a black ceramic Braun, not the same as yours but in the same vein. It got precisely no love on here, but I just wanted you to know that I respect your choice, it's a great looking watch! Understated style in shed loads, but with a price tag that makes you check twice. Love it.

I have the exact same watch.

I enjoy it for its simplicity and style.

And my other watch is a mondaine, not quite same as pictured, but I'm a big fan.

Thanks - Yes, I must admit I balk a bit at paying £400 for a Russian watch. The only one I have is a Scuba Dude and, frankly, it's total tat!

I'm sure the Strela's in a different league, but £400 can buy some nice used watches!

M
I paid £145 for my black Strela and £200 for my white version as I liked the black one so much that I had to have another! They do have a cool history though as they were issued to cosmonauts for 20 years as well as being the first watch worn in open space. It's the Russian equivalent to a Speedmaster.

I have a soft spot for Vostoks as I did not wear a watch at all until about 8 years ago when I must have been 24. I suddenly decided I would wear a watch so I had a look on ebay which was all new to me back then and spotted this cool and unusual watch unlike anything I'd ever seen. After reading up on them including what such terms as "automatic" meant I eagerly paid my £35 and requested a leather strap instead of the bracelet. The strap was rubbish but I didnt know any better back then.

This is the watch that started it all off for me. On a NATO of all things.

The problem with Vostoks like the one I bought and the Scuba Dude is the bad lume, no ratchet on the bezel, no date adjustment other than moving the hands back and forth over the 12am position, and the supplied strap or bracelet must be discarded immediatelyhehe

If you can live with the above they are cheap, tough and have a lot of character. The way the domed crystal sits in the case means that water tightness increases as the water pressure increases. The caseback has a screw down ring which presses the back (rather than screws) onto the gasket which means you can open the back as often as you like without damaging the gasket with a rotating back. The wobbly screw down crown is actually a feature to prevent damage to the stem. The Amphibia range on the whole are very durable and reliable. I bought another one for the first time in years quite recently. I'll get a photo up in a minute.

I'm thinking about swapping the bezel with the one from my blue Amphibia. Might be a better match for both.

A piece of lume is missing from my pelagos' bezel I've just noticed. I've not knocked it or anything - do we think the warranty will cover this?

The Komandirskie I bought last year failed in months. The stem just broke. I doubt I'll buy another, although an Amfibiya seems interesting.
