My beast of a Christmas present has finally arrived with the shark proof strap I wanted! Here's to destroying shirt cuffs in 2014!

The Ploprof has to be one of ugliest watches made but I'd love one!
I used to think that until I bought one. Then you realise for the size they are, and the heft, they wear really well. And they look an awful lot better than a Sea Dweller, and an awful, awful, awful lot better than a DSSD.....

So far all I have had is compliments on how cool/retro it looks. I find it very comfortable.

Plenty of Sea Dwellers being worn in my industry, nice to have something different.

That looks familiar... A Dominic Hackett special? I tried that on, thought it was fantastic but ended up with the AP instead. That's some retro cool yes
Nope, not Dom (who by strange coincidence lives opposite my brother, could be dangerous....,) My dad has had this for years. Not worn it for probably a decade so thought I would rescue it. Fired straight up after a few shakes and now lives on a watch winder when not being worn. Bracelet is pretty battered and probably not original so may investigate a replacement.

I'd like a bit more info on the 372 plese from a owners perspective; is it the holy grail of Luminors? Just how good is that movement and the 3-day reserve in action? I have a 45mm Radiomir, how does the 47mm 73 wear by comparison?

I am slightly tempted to take a punt...

It's a great watch. Has the patina yellow /tan lume, plexiglass & in house 3 day movement.

The movement itself is great, you get a genuine 3 days from it & so far (18 months) it' doesn't gain or lose time. It makes the daily winding of the 176 seem like a chore.

I was initially worried about the plexiglass picking up marks & stretches etc, but in reality it's been very robust. Panerai also give you a spare plexi in the box & will replace the first one free.

The watch itself wears well though it's a no go under work shirt cuffs.
Have a look at paneristi.com under dealers market for a chap called Paul Thorpe. He has a great collection for sale (over 100!!) & has a 372 for under £5k if you fancy a dabble.

Picked this up today as a complete impulse purchase.

No box / papers but think I paid a price that it would always be worth, so just have the pleasure of wearing it "for free" if you get my man maths.....

Cor, congratulations!

I tried one on before Christmas too, wear my watches on my right wrist and slightly loose so wasn't sure I could live with the crown guard on the back of my hand!

It feels amazingly well made doesn't it, the clasp somehow really got my attention too!

Somewhere on the web I found a pic of one on a black nylon looking strap with orange stiching, looked great!

Google pics of how Gianni Agnelli used to wear his Plo Prof (and any watch) for a laugh!

Just swapped the 7s26 movement in my Seiko Fifty Five Fathoms mod for the newer hacking movement.

The only thing I didn't like about the watch before was the fact you couldn't wind it (so it stopped if you took it off for a day).

As a bonus it also got me a white on black date!
