Not Chinese crap after all so comment with no prior knowledge is in fact not irrefutable fact but indeed snobbery.
Yes it is Chinese, with a Japanese movement which Variomatic has guessed as to the type of. I guess 'crap' has several definitions; in terms of whether it's value for money, chucked in with a magazine, I'm sure it's good value. Will it survive a dip in a pool, taking a knock or be in one piece in a year... Possibly not I, personally still wish to call it 'crap', that's my choice by my definition. It's not snobbishness to me, it might be to you.

Don't forget that I have a (genuine) Gucci on my bench at the moment with "made in China" inside the case. Ok, given my personal opinion of Gucci watches and Rolex handbags, that doesn't really discount "crap" but just sayin' I, personally still wish to call it 'crap', that's my choice by my definition. It's not snobbishness to me, it might be to you.
As for the rest, I have to agree that, when qualified regarding overall durability the word may well fit. But it's a tenner with free toilet paper included
Incidentally, the guess re movements is simply because they're by far the cheapest Japanese movements out there simply because of the volume they're produced in. When the 1 billionth 2035 came off the production line (over a decade ago now) they had a little celebration deal and sold them for 75p each, including Sony battery, shipping to the UK and whatever profit the materials houses were making. Even now they're only 5p more each than the cheapest of the Chinese stuff, for a really rather good, if aging, movement.

Stop beings snobs you lot, just because you can afford a Patek Philippe does not mean that you always have to wear one or that wearing anything else is somehow below you and you feel the need to belittle someone for doing so, my father and I have both been buying these magazines, the watches are more of an interest in terms of the design of the originals they are based upon and in fact there is something quite amusing about wearing a watch that came on the front of a £10 magazine, no they are not great quality but that's not the point, it's a bit of fun for very little expense and the SBS sub homage on this edition fits my 8 year old son perfectly and looks good on him, and my dad likes his too.
Relax and remember life is for enjoying, and before you ask, yes I can afford a Patek if I wanted one.
Total bks ......the guy obviously is promoting the product ......and if your father and yourself have been buying the magazine well .....jolly well doneRelax and remember life is for enjoying, and before you ask, yes I can afford a Patek if I wanted one.
Are you under 14 ?
I was simply making people aware of a magazine as some people might not of seen the adverts end of, Wont bother next time to get people moaning at me for trying to be helpful and telling me about my new Job I haven't got working as a promoter for various magazine companies.

Except that they have Japanese movements which means, as a minimum standard, Hattori PC21 which has been used by Seiko Corp in Lorus watches retailing at £25 - £40 or so over the years. It's reliable, good battery life, and cheap / easy to source and replace if needed. They may even use Miyota 2035 - all metal, fully repairable, originally developed for full-price Citizens then sidelined over the years into budget brands at a price that makes repair pointless. Probably the most successful watch movement ever with well over a billion units produced.
So -
Cheap? Yes, but does anyone really expect a £10 magazine to have a watch genuinely worth more than the cover price attached?
Crap? Depends entirely how you define it but, given how reliable and successful they are, the only valid reason for calling the PC21 or 2035 crap without qualifying the comment is snob value.

Either you're promoting it, or you're 10 years old.I was simply making people aware of a magazine as some people might not of seen the adverts end of, Wont bother next time to get people moaning at me for trying to be helpful and telling me about my new Job I haven't got working as a promoter for various magazine companies.
You don't get a "free watch" with the magazine. You pay for it.
They aren't even selling genuine military watches, they're just vague copies inspired by the original.
I'll admit that after seeing the second issue (Luftwaffe Aviator), I did actually like it and went and bought the magazine. Its a surprisingly comfortable beater. Don't expect it to last that long.

Sorry I'm a bit lost in this thread, do you have to be able to afford a Patek to buy the £6 magazine watch?
No, you should be able to afford a Patek to use PH. But as you're a company director, you can afford it. That said, the smaller classic Pateks will look odd on massive powerfully-built wrists.yeti said:

Ah. Got it, thanks. Obviously I lied about not being able to afford one... it's the Werther's Original advertising that puts me off!
No-one answered my question about the Italian Diver's edition...

Get a fking grip, it's £6! SIX POUNDS!
You buy it, taunt people by asking them what they think you paid for it (from 10 feet away) have a smile to yourself about it and if and when it breaks you can shoot it!
Until then it cost £6, think it's crap? Know it's crap? So don't buy one!
May as well trawl all threads for super cheap stuff that you'd NEVER consider buying and say it's all crap for the sake of it!

seiko epson movement, stainless steel case, waterproof, leather strap on the last one
not exactly lucky bag watches, well worth 10 quid
It was the second that came with a leather strap. The third (Rolex Sub copy) and first had mildly unpleasant nylon straps. The release dates have been all over the place.not exactly lucky bag watches, well worth 10 quid
