Has anyone started getting the Military watch magazine, Its really good value and you get a free watch with every issue,

I got the first issue and the watch is fantastic, A real nice watch and i cant believe they are giving away genuine military watches with a magazine for such a cheap price

There is a link to the website below for anyone who hasnt already seen it / subscribed

Not sure if you're serious, but you do realise that the watches that are being 'given away' with the magazine are cheap Chinese crap made to look vaguely like Italian diver Marina Militares etc. They aren't genuine. Perhaps a whoosh parrot for me?

Can I suggest you review your understanding of the term "free" as it doesn't usually include paying for something.

i.e. Money has changed hands for a magazine and a nasty crappy 'watch' - ergo not "free"!

Look on the £50 thread. They're not bad for the price (you get a free magazine!) but they are not genuine army watches. They're based on army watch designs. If you want a genuine one, go here: http://www.silvermans.co.uk/tabid/63/dep/cat/SKU/0...

My wife got me edition 1, bless.

The watch was barely worth the £3.99

The magazine was superficial crap.

Feel a bit bad for the OP here, really! Thought there had been a couple of positive threads on these, recently, on here!?

Hey, for pocket change, how wrong can you go? If you like it OP, all power to you!

Stop beings snobs you lot, just because you can afford a Patek Philippe does not mean that you always have to wear one or that wearing anything else is somehow below you and you feel the need to belittle someone for doing so, my father and I have both been buying these magazines, the watches are more of an interest in terms of the design of the originals they are based upon and in fact there is something quite amusing about wearing a watch that came on the front of a £10 magazine, no they are not great quality but that's not the point, it's a bit of fun for very little expense and the SBS sub homage on this edition fits my 8 year old son perfectly and looks good on him, and my dad likes his too.

Relax and remember life is for enjoying, and before you ask, yes I can afford a Patek if I wanted one.

Nobody was going ask. Nobody cares.

This is a watch forum, OP asked about the watches, it was pointed out they are cheap Chinese crap. That is an irrefutable fact, not snobbishness

Except that they have Japanese movements which means, as a minimum standard, Hattori PC21 which has been used by Seiko Corp in Lorus watches retailing at £25 - £40 or so over the years. It's reliable, good battery life, and cheap / easy to source and replace if needed.

They may even use Miyota 2035 - all metal, fully repairable, originally developed for full-price Citizens then sidelined over the years into budget brands at a price that makes repair pointless. Probably the most successful watch movement ever with well over a billion units produced.

So -

Cheap? Yes, but does anyone really expect a £10 magazine to have a watch genuinely worth more than the cover price attached?

Crap? Depends entirely how you define it but, given how reliable and successful they are, the only valid reason for calling the PC21 or 2035 crap without qualifying the comment is snob value.

I can't but I don't expect watches with a magazine to be quality products... smile

Is the Italian Diver's edition out yet?

Not Chinese crap after all so comment with no prior knowledge is in fact not irrefutable fact but indeed snobbery.

Get a fking grip, it's £6! SIX POUNDS!

You buy it, taunt people by asking them what they think you paid for it (from 10 feet away) have a smile to yourself about it and if and when it breaks you can shoot it!

Until then it cost £6, think it's crap? Know it's crap? So don't buy one!

May as well trawl all threads for super cheap stuff that you'd NEVER consider buying and say it's all crap for the sake of it!
