Just noticed the top chrono button for my Speedmaster Day/Date is missing.

Watch is about 6 months old and I bought it from Goldsmiths.

Taking it back tomorrow to see what they can do.

So what do you think will happen..

a) Really sorry sir, have another one
b) We will need to send it away, call back in 6 weeks
c) You damaged that so you will pay for it

Having never had to take anything back of this value/quality I have no idea what to expect...

Hopefully b

But realistically c

Try taking it into an Omega store, and not Goldsmiths?
Just cuts out the middle men.

Sorry to hear of this. Very unfortunate.

A minor fix they can hopefully do in situ or at least in short time.

Omega do, in my experience, treat customers really well. Yes, I know they are Swatch in Portsmouth.

LVMH / TAG in Manchester are rubbish!!

Swatch don't have a great reputation, but Duval certainly make them look good.

UPDATE!!

On the advice received here I contacted Omega direct.

They sent an insured box and a travel case for the Speedy. Sent it off and the next day received and email saying that it has arrived and they would be sorting this at their costs.

Thanks for the info folks, much appreciated....

Of course now I realise just how much I miss the damn thing....

Indeed, of course if you'd bought a Rolex, 20 virgins would have stroked your brow and fed you grapes while you waited for it to be fixed (oh, sorry, failed to proceed wink ).

At least, I'm sure I was told that once...

Is their place still in Southampton? I'd like to get a quote for a fix on one of mine, could just drop it in.

I'm shopping for a speedy and this was something I'd wondered about.

What happens? Do the bottoms get caught on a thread from clothes and pulled? Do they damage easily against hard objects?

There has been a few differences in the Speedmaster case over time, the early straight lugged plain case had no pusher protection, like a lot of watches of the time (see Zenith etc).

Then the introduction of the assymetric case gave more thickness to shroud the pusher cap but left the posts nude:

And finally and uniquely on the last generation Lemania powered Speedmaster, enclosed posts on a moonwatch case:

Glad it's all back for you!

My six month old Planet Ocean has developed a loose hour hand and is currently with. Omega. When it was packaged up the dealer noticed I had a scratch on the watch body and said "let's hope Omega don't blame this on accidental damage". I'll be livid if a watch certified to a diving depth of 600m can be damaged without the wearer even realising!
