Sorry Yeti, that wasn't intended as a dig, I was interested to know why? How did you come to that conclusion, so you think the ETA COSC movement isn't very good? They get good reviews elsewhere, look great and seem to have a good following. Rolex push their product just a slickly, I'm just not sure why you don't think they are any good?
No worries ETA COSC movements are great, I have plenty of them, but are often found in watches that cost a few hundred pounds. It's simply a movement snobbery thing that I have and many others don't. On my desk currently I have a Smiths Everest with a Moyots (Citizen) movement and a Maranez Bangla with a Seiko. Both are auto, both run accurately with good reserves. One was 200 quid, the other 150. Extreme examples, but unless you make your movements in house, you'll always be compared to a company that buys in their movements like this.
The trick is making people spend 5k on your product. A trick Bremont have mastered well (double that money for a fragment of HMS Victory or the Enigma machine) but doesn't wash quite so well anymore; Breitling, Omega, they are all moving to in-house production as that's what the maturing and knowledgeable market wants; a movement not used elsewhere. There's an easy car analogy to be made with engines there, the Evora suffers vs the Cayman due to having a Toyota lump. It's probably just as good at making power (or keeping time), but perceptionally, it's not good enough at the money.
TBH Bremont make beautiful cases and have the best looking saleswoman in London (Samantha in the Royal Exchange) but I find their marketing slightly cynical. I also prioze heritage and history, even if I know sometimes it's marketing driven; my cars are Aston, Morgan and Land Rover, I don't do 'new' things Therefore if a Blanpain, Breguet, Rolex or Omega is avalaible at the same money as a Bremont, it's no brainer for me, and I stress that is just me!

Do you know what, I totally get that. I would prefer in house, the car analogy is a good one. I will still look to buy one as I like the look, but it will have to be at the right price.......

You often comment about the totty at watch shops. You do realise, do you, that the chances of any of them spotting your posts, knowing who you are and agreeing to shag you are vanishingly small? You'd be better off with a more direct approach.

Do they "agree" to shag?
Do they need to confirm by letter or E-mail or does it have to be done via a Solicitor?
OP you are getting so much more than you asked for, aren't you lucky!

I haven't been in all the watch shops in London but I was in the Bremont boutique the other day and I think I can guess which one was Samantha! I'm in the market for a new watch - still dithering exactly what I want (another Panerai, a JLC, an IWC, maybe GO) - I really don't know. I hadn't really been interested in Bremont but I was in Selfridges earlier in the week and one of the watch guys (Kevin) was very enthusiastic about Bremont. Really made me see them in a different light and I'm looking into them now.

Of course you would be able to get one of the older model Explorer 2 for less than £4k.
I tried on a white face 42mm Explorer 2 just at the weekend and I'm very tempted.
