Pushed the button on a couple of Steinharts a week and a half ago direct from them, somewhat apprehensively having read about their poor communication, slow delivery and general lack of attention.
One Ocean 44 auto and an Ocean Vintage Military.
Well the watches arrived today, very well packaged and on opening they were exceptionally well protected.
Once unwrapped the watches are absolutely first class in terms of the quality of finish, attention to detail and presentation.
I have to say that the service I have received has been exemplary, with good communication, fast delivery and with a product that I have to say puts other more expensive watches to shame.
Based on my experience I would highly recommend their service if anyone is contemplating one of these beautiful timepieces, do not be put off by some of the comments you might read.
First class service and product and credit where credit is due, thank you Steinhart.

I would add a definite thumbup as well. Even though we had technical issues with the invoice the communication was good and regular and once that was sorted the rest was great. As mentioned on the incoming thread very smooth.

My Ocean 1 Red has not left my wrist since and is keeping good time. It also feels like a product far better than the price would suggest.

That's good to know I have just ordered an Ocean 1 green.
Had a mixed service so far I ordered on Sunday and have not received an email confirmation so far!
I rang them on Monday morning and they gave me my order ref over the phone so I could pay via PayPal again though still had no email confirmation!
I emailed them Monday evening advising I had paid could they confirm my order/when will it be dispatched etc still waiting for a response..
Mixed bag re service for me so far - all being well watch arrives within the 8 working days if I does then I would say their customer service has been satisfactory!

That was the problem I had, no email confirmation and 6 attempts at getting an invoice through. However the response was always quick and they did what they could.

Once paid it was all smooth with delivery a week later - they quote 8-12 days.

This is mine - hasn't been off my wrist since (except for mixing concrete yesterday....)

Thanks.

I must admit I was a sceptic in that I couldn't see how a £300 watch could compare with much more expensive examples but I am very impressed at the whole package. the feeling of quality is evident throughout from the finish, the feel, the weight etc. I would highly recommend them.

Plenty of Steinhart love here. One other thing to mention about the fantastic quality is the adjustment of the watch bracelet.
They supply you with a small / minute screw driver and instead of there being pins to remove to take links out you remove tiny but solid screws and then make the necessary adjustments each side.
Instead of trying to remove tiny split pins you have proper screws and the adjustment takes about 5 mins to get it absolutely perfect. Blown away by the quality of engineering and attention to detail in these watches for the price, absolutely amazing.
Oh and no I don't work for them smile

My green ocean turned up the other day

Echo the views, very well made watch for the price

Only slight irritation is the cyclops appears ever so slightly misaligned against the date box however measuring it to the edge it's fine so perhaps optical illusion

Price is normally a marketing decision, because many people associate high quality and exclusivity with a high price. See the Veblen effect.

Also, Steinhart doesn't have marketing costs to cover (advertising, paying celebrities to be 'brand ambassadors', sponsorship of events to promote the brand, etc). Steinhart doesn't pay for a sales force, relying on the internet instead. All these things have a major impact on the cost of a watch.

What's the score with the 19% vat or no vat prices on their website ?

Should we pay the non vat price seeing as we are going to be charged 20% at UK customs or am I just hoping ?

You don't pay customs anything, it comes from within the EU.

Very pleased with my ocean green too. Probably at the edge of average accuracy with +5 to +7 sec per day typical now.
