Was hoping to save up to buy myself a second hand Speedmaster for Christmas BUT after taking into consideration the fact that SWMBA bought me a rather lovely Seamaster chrono as a wedding present (and that she's married to me - poor thing) thought I'd return the favour and buy her a new watch for our first wedding anniversary.

Have a limit of £1500 and though I well appreciate I could get more watch by going the second hand route, as it is our first anniversary, only seems fair to purchase new. Not overly concerned as to whether it's quartz or automatic, but the horologist in me would prefer an auto if possible.

So far have identified a black faced Seamaster with the 28mm face as a possible candidate but would welcome contributions from others more knowledgeable than I.

Many thanks.

Have a look on Chrono24.com and narrow your search down to unworn etc.

There are some very nice Cartier models that would suit a lady very nicely.

The problem with the Omega Seamaster is that it really is a miniature of a gents watch imo. I looked at one for my oh but she wasn't having any of it.

Just bought myself a Tag Formula 1 with ceramic inlaid strap and black face. Diamond version is just over £2k but they do a few different variations. Will see if I can take some pics

Pictures don't do it justice and if I'd not tried it on I wouldn't have bought it but it's stunning in the flesh

Depends what she likes of course, but I bought my partner a Longines Gold Prestige for about £1.9k, it makes me smile every time I see her wear it. Appreciate that's more than your budget, but perhaps you could negotiate a bit as I don't think they make it any more.

Thanks for your replies fellas - very much appreciated. Have had a look on fleabay (if only go get an idea of what I can expect to get for £1500) and current favourites are an Omega De-ville and a blue faced Tag Heuer link model (sadly can't provide photos as on my iPad).

Looks like I'm going to have to try and get some overtime in at work.

Or.............find a few watches you like in the £1500-2000 bracket and ask one of the regulars on here if they can get one for you at a decent price. More than a few of us have been very well looked after by Dom Hackett for example thumbup

Mr Hackett does have a lot to answer for already. Regularly have a look on his site and he really does carry some fantastic stock. It's a good point though, but with only £1500 to spend I'd feel like the boy in the school shower room whose just come in from the cold. Lol.

Particularly like the Autavia and Ingenieur. Very nice alternative to that Speedie I've promised myself.......

I had a beautiful old Omega De Ville a while back with diamonds round the face. Beautiful, classy and yet subtle. Seem to remember it could be bought for around £1k.

Two excellent suggestions their - really do appreciate that. Must say Tudor did slip under the radar, but after googling that particular model - with a SS bracelet or the crocodile strap and white face - think I may well have found her next present. You never know, she might return the favour and buy me a Heritage.

After somebody on here mentioned Sinn watches, I had a little look online and found this which I am now saving up for for Mrs Cjelli.

She likes square faced watches and nothing too ostentatious, so it would suit her I reckon.

Yep the white dial SS version is lovely. Having seen and held one in person they are good value too and should come in around £1500 as well.

I've always thought the ladies' Omega Constellation is rather nice, much more so than the gents' version. The smaller size seems to suit it more.
