I think they're different things which both have their place, some people obviously buy luxury watches as pieces of jewelery and for fashion, not just for the craftsmanship and design but I can see them still doing so, the Apple Watch is more for your gadget lover than your fashion conscious consumer imo, although I'm sure it will sell very well.
I hope you're right. At this stage I am certainly not getting rid of the types of watch I have now, but I will probably buy one of the Apples because I want to understand the core functionality and see how useful it is.

I am very interested to see the impact of this thing. I would never have predicted the iPod, iPad world where these things became so ubiquitous.

I think it will sell well and chances are it will become a common sight, look at iPads when and just before they came out, a tablet was a completely foreign concept and now most people swear by them.
For me personally the Apple Watch doesn't appeal as all of the things it offers I can do on my phone, and I would rather have a nice mechanical watch on my wrist, sadly I've been without one for a while but currently hunting for a VC Overseas biggrin.

I was all for one (in addition) if there was a decent fitness / GPS application. The fact the things not water proof stops my mental shopping dead in the water.

Thought I would resurrect this thread in light of today's launch:

http://www.gilt.com/sale/men/mm/michael-bastian-x-...

I'm not sure whether there are any sensors built in, but a week's wear between charges, water resistance and remote control of your media via the watch are all positives...

There are some Genta design nods there, as well as some X-33 style looks and the price isn't outrageous!

I'm might be the odd one our here. I own around 30 Swiss Automatic watches from Rolex/Patel/Cartier/Omega etc and can't wait for the apple watch as I'm both a big technology geek and also a apple fanatic.

See now that's heading in the right direction. What they really need to do is create a module that you can switch between bodies. So one day I have something that looks like a sub, the next an IWC, etc etc. Shame the screen res is so poor.
