I've only ever heard negative things about Tourneau so maybe give them a miss!

Do you want to purchase new or used?

There are plenty of manufacture supported boutiques and these are dotted around 5th avenue and Park Ave - some are inside hotels.

If you are looking for used deals, there are a few places around these places too, but when buying for a special occasion I prefer to buy new.

There is a stunning Patek boutique in Tiffany's on 5th, but be warned, the store is 6 storeys and the chances of your wife going in and coming out empty handed are slim to none.

West 47th between 5th and 6th Avenues: it isn't only the Diamond District.

Happy hunting!

Very much overpriced and HIGHLY motivated salespeople who know little about watches (IMO).

I was in their used section looking at Daytonas and the chap serving me had a vague notion of the move from Zenith to In house but couldn't spot a watch with a Zenith in it. I told him about the 6 o'clock dial and he didn't care. Just wanted a sale.

At least the guys in my local WOS go through the motions.

Bit random but there's a nice watch shop at terminal 2, the Breitling shop NY is worth a look too (been twice) smile
