So why should your depreciating asset be 10% of your net worth, but a Rolex, which long term will appreciate, be just 3.33% of your annual salary ?
Not thought this through very well have you? Not for the first time.
so you reckon that a 2014 Sub will appreciate in value (nominal and real)? Not thought this through very well have you? Not for the first time.

I agree with you, especially when Asley says:Ashley1111 said:
Living with parents??!! Ha, yeah good one! The only house of theirs I use is the one in Key Largo thanks!
I mean at least some of you guys save for years to buy one, but some people get them for free.....definitely not been seen dead with one now

As I said, cr@ppy day so glad to find somewhere to vent....
It's amazing how your replies have no actual meaning to the bits you quote. Must nearly be time for bed surely?
A different example: A friend of mine just took over stewardship from his parents of a small stately home / estate which is open to the public. I take it you wouldn't be seen dead living in one of these either as he was "given it"?! Where do you draw the line?
There is a huge difference between EARNING it and being given it, but only those of us who have earned it know it.It's amazing how your replies have no actual meaning to the bits you quote. Must nearly be time for bed surely?

In my view a luxury watch is a status symbol worn by those who have been successful in life. A rolex tells time just like a seiko or a casio. The difference is prestige that's all. So by buying a rolex you are making a statement of your success, but too many are liers.
I am struggling to understand some of you. This is Pistonheads right? - a site for cars/speed. Take Ashley1111 for example. The kid is a car salesman and drives an old Clio, yet he has a luxury watch collection......WHY? What does he do with these watches? Does he wear them all at the same time or does he wear a different one every day? Why doesn't he sell them and get a proper car? or put a deposit down for a small terrace....?

No, the back is too cramped to be used as a 4 door, so it doesn't make much sense. I guess that why they never really took off. A spacious coupe is miles better. MrBarry123 said:

This has been the funniest thread I've read in a long, long time!
+1 Never realised that there were so many nobody's wearing luxury watches - it's amazing the sacrifices (like food..!) people make in order to stand out from the crowd..!!
no wonder those wrists in the "wrist shots" look so malnourished...
