Because expensive watches are for rich, successful people. Borrowing to buy a Rolex when you drive a VW means you are a moron who is trying to live a life you cant afford as you have not earned it. You don't see the Rolex advert showing a guy standing next to his VW at the chippy with his fat bird eating chips.....lol Rolex are for rich people, so if you are not, use your energy, time, and savings to get rich - then you buy a Rolex and wear it with pride. Only then do you cease being a wannabe....
You cease to be a wannabe when you grow up and realise that the measure of a man isn't the watch he wears or the car he drives, but it's the person he is.

I suggest you look for a watch by Jacob & Co, should suit you nicely.

I think the fact it doesn't have to be new says it all.
Afterall, who wants a S/H watch coated in the dead skin cells of some "wannabe" pond scum who only earns 50k a year.

I didn't say rich, I said that you need to be earning £150k plus before considering a £5k watch....pay attention

Thus you drew a link between being earning £150k pa and being rich.

Regardless, you're either a troll, a weaponised w@nkstain or both, and for that reason, ah'm oot.

No i didn't - i said that for a £5k watch you need to be earning £150k. I also said that expensive watches are for rich people. two separate statements that are not linked.

I appear to be offending all those Average Joes who think that by wearing a Sub they have made it in life....dream on boys..lol

How do you determine whether someone has 'made it in life'? Is there a list of objects someone has to wear or own before they have 'made it'?

OP appears to be obsessed with money and how much people earn. He also needs confirmation from people on the potential material purchases he is going to make, whether something is expensive enough or whether it is perceived to be purchased by the masses on credit - either way, it does not matter and no one cares!

OP is making himself look like a right tool.. I am not a big fan of Rolex, however don't go on about it, everyone is entitled to favor specific brands for their own reasons.

If luxury watchmakers could only sell to the extremely wealthy, I doubt many of them would not be in business today..

Im confused. I have a Rolex GMT2 which I was given as a present for my 21st birthday from my parents (over 10 years ago, yikes!). I earn more than the £30-£40k but less than the required £150k.

To confuse things further I bought a Panerai a few years ago on 0% finance, as why wouldn't you use someone elses money if available for nothing...

I also bought an Omega Seamaster as a complete impluse buy from (whisper it), a pawn shop, but this time just on debit card as there was no finance incentive obviously.

So, am I a wannabe, a chav, poor, rich....???

OP, please help pigeon hole me on lifes success ladder.

I VERY rarely find myself commenting on threads like this but the op's view is bonkers, materialistic and quite frankly... Pathetic. Who cares how someone comes to own the possessions they own? Who cares what they earn or aspire to be? Let them get on with and stop being such a bloody snobbish muppet.

Stu

Not sure to be honest, I am in a similar position except for the fact my parents obviously didn't do as well as yours as I only got a TAG for my 21st but have since been able to add a PAM, an Omega and a Rolex on my meagre salary. I think I'll sell them all tomorrow and donate the cash to the OP to use as toilet paper.

Please make sure the cash is in £50's. The OP only wipes his ass on Matthew Boulton or James Watt...
