What does your watch say about you?
Discussion
There's a man on YouTube who has covered the What does your watch say about you? topic pretty comprehensively. Here's his opinion on Omega SMP and Rolex Sub owners...Prepare to be insulted.

I've never been to prison sweetheart, so I don't really know what you all get up to behind locked doors!

To bring it back on thread. Today's watch says that I'll be early for everything, because it's gaining a minute or so per week. Superlative Chronometer my arse.......

Being abusive to each other really isn't in the spirit of this forum - we have The Lounge or NP&E for that.

impending thread lock i'd say.
nah, it was all very light hearted banter and myself and one or two others got our danders up a little bit but nothing too hot I reckon...overall I've found the entire thread quite amusing. after my first post complimenting the guy with the same watch as me I didn't anticipate it taking such a surreal turn but, hey, it's pistonheads!!Caruso said:

I can't tell if he's parodying watch snobs or if he is a paragon-level bellend.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMQzQeBsvEA
Mine says that I don't like fishing for my phone when I want to know the time.
So, in summary:
Patek Phillipe - Loves watches, probably has several
Vacheron Constantin - Loves watches, probably has several, and a couple of tax haven mansions
Panerai - Aware of trends (ie a Chav)
Hublot - Plays football for a living or is a body builder
AP - Has a golf handicap of <15
Richard Mille - Has the keys to a Ferrari in his pocket
Breitling - drives a Ford Mustang
Christopher Ward - careful with your money
Rolex - you know a thing or two, but not necessarily about watches
IWC or Zenith - you know a thing or two, including about watches
Omega - you’d like to know a thing or two but got stuck figuring it all out. Unless of course it’s an early model Speedmaster in which case it says Gemini and Apollo space programs
Tag - same as Omega, but more so. And again the caveat is the Tag Monaco that Steve McQueen wore in Le Mans.
Timex - still 11 years old
Japanese watch - difficult. The Seiko Spring Drive is a definite wow, and most others are pretty nice but they lack the style the european watches have
And finally, if you insist you don't like watches, then why on earth are you up to page 8 on this particular thread?? Yes, a watch and a wedding ring are the only items of jewelery a man can wear. And if you're fussy about cars then chances are you're fussy about watches. If you're not fussy about watches then I suggest you own up and add your name to the thread called 'Anybody on pistonheads own a Citroen Picasso, because they're always dented and are utterly crap'

Ok, a couple of serious questions!
Not that it bothers me, but I am genuinely curious to know what people would think if they spotted the CCCP on the front of this watch. I bought it because it interested me, not because I have dubious loyalties!
Also, my navy divers watch. I have never been in the armed forces, so does this make me seem like a pretender?

To all the people that say "I care more about the engineering and quality than the name", surely Grand Seiko must be the ultimate watch for this. Very well made, very accurate and yet with a name that barely anyone would recognise as being expensive.
At least, that's why I want one for my daily watch. I would also like a watch with a 'prestigious' name on the dial and yes there is a part of me that would like someone recognising that name but for day to day it would be great to be able to say 'oh it's just a Seiko' if anyone was to ever ask. This isn't beacuse of some reverse snobbery but really just becuase I do like the engineering and quality in Grand Seikos and I don't particularly want a watch that is recognisable as being expensive.
